It's ok to sign up and find that you don't have enough time to participate. If you do happen to have a few spare minutes, then you could always log on and help your team out. It doesn't require a time commitment. Even if you sign up and find that you can't participate, you can still cheer on your team.

Before our summer games begin, we need to establish which athletes will be competing with us this year, as well as which countries will be represented. Athletes are invited to sign up for the games by filling out the form below. When selecting a country to represent, athletes may choose any country - keep in mind that, in order to participate in the games, each country must send 5 or more athletes by August 1st, the start date of the Olympic Games. Therefore, if you can convince four other participants to represent the country of your choice, you can compete for that country! If your country falls short of the 5 athletes cut off, you will be invited, via PM, to join another country of your choosing.
Athletes may sign up to compete at any time, even after the games have started on August 1st. However, athletes must join a country that is already participating in the games (the full list of participating countries can be viewed below). Athletes are not permitted to change countries.
Once you have signed up to compete in the games, you will be invited to join a secret group here on Goodreads that is affiliated with your selected country. This group is accessible only by your teammates and will provide a location for you to meet your fellow athletes and discuss the various challenges associated with each Olympic sport.
