I'm torn. Should I finish Riyria first? I didn't realize they're connected and I feel like reading this one will spoil that series for me?
Diana Stormblessed wrote: "I'm torn. Should I finish Riyria first? I didn't realize they're connected and I feel like reading this one will spoil that series for me?"I don't think it matters. Other than general connections, there isn't anything that will actually be spoiled in those from these. I read these first and still enjoyed the Riyria books just as much. So I think either way is fine.

Thanks! Than I'm in.
I think that beyond the very setting of the book (view spoiler), you won't be spoiled much. I haven't read Age of Swords so I could be wrong though.
Nah. No real spoilers. He wrote them so they can be read in any order and still enjoyed. Don't think I can fit in this reread, unfortunately.

You can always lurk here and re-read through us haha :)
True. I will try and keep track of the discussion. I really want to start Age of War now, but I'm going to wait for the buddy read.
C.P. wrote: "True. I will try and keep track of the discussion. I really want to start Age of War now, but I'm going to wait for the buddy read."Did you order your copy through the Kickstarter to have it already?
Yea... it's not like Stormlight Archive, where reading a book about the Heraldic Wars would ruin the present storyline some... the story we're reading here has faded into legend, without any spoilery interactions with the Riyria books... from what I understand, anyway...
I am going to resume the series - I definitely want to re-read this book before delving into the next book! So exciting!
Yes, I did pre-order through the kickstarter. So I will get a hardcover of the book, but I have the ebook already. Have since April or so.

More like just no time to read. So I figure I may as well wait for the buddy read. If I can hold out. I've been itching to start.

Damn my memory, I just remembered that I glazed over a lot of the first book, Continuing this series has been more of a compulsion than anything else, I'm out.
No comments yet Virginie?... I started at work last night... around 33% already... middle of Chapter 14: The Nightmare
There's been a lot more Prince Mondilay than I would have liked... (view spoiler)
Everything else has been awesome tho... (view spoiler)

Heh, I've been really busy with work this week. I'm only at 25% ;)Waking up at 5.30 am every morning, and going home at 9 pm :'(
Tell me about it... work's been crazy for me the past few weeks as well... with understaffing, people quitting, almost quitting, returning, getting injured... it's never-ending...
Been working 9:30pm to 7:15-7:45am 4 days a week, and 9:30pm to 8-9am the 5th day for weeks now... really makes them company policy refreshers hilarious... that talk about leaving on time every day...
At least, for me, it doesn't get in the way of my reading, for the most part ;)

I wish I could read at work but I really can't :/ I can sneak in a few minutes of GR here and there though (more than I should haha).
I listened to Age of Myth, but I'm doing Age of Swords with the ebook. I'm a bit lost with the names...I mean... "Mawyndulë" is definitely NOT how I though that princeling's name was spelled xD
This book's been great... I'm on the last chapter now, with another after-action report between Malcolm and Nephron...
Glad we have another to read next month... then we have to start waiting...
I'll parse my comments later today...

Iain wrote: "wow... I just called him Mondelay a few comments ago..."Yes, I saw that. He was "Mandulaï" in my head... x)
I gave up a long time ago about being accurate with character names... I just try to be phonetic these days...
How does the audio pronounce Mawyndule? (Might have misspelled that). I say it may-when-duel. Can't remember if I checked the pronunciation guide or not.
I just assume the narrators are pronouncing it correctly... they pronounce it Mondulay/Mondelay... but I know a couple cases where narrators just make an uninformed decision... most authors don't care how you mispronounce as long as you enjoy the book... from what I've seen with steampunk anyway...

This is why I just call him Princeling lol

Well done, Stormblessed! I had to copy-paste to get it right :p
Gigantic spoilers for Riyria Revelations (seriously, back off until you finish that series, it'll ruin everything!) (view spoiler)
So I finished yesterday, like I said...

So, in case you guys haven't noticed, I'm trying something new (to me): taking notes on my Kindle as I read. I'm usually struggling to actually comment on my BRs but now, I've got plenty to say :D(Sorry if I'm too chatty... But not really sorry! Iain did ask for comments, after all ;) )

Sorry, I read too fast and waited too long to accurately tell when my spoilers are safe to read...
