Nic's head snapped toward the voice and he shot her a smile, girls always seemed to lighten his mood, especially pretty blonde ones. "The monster in the lake tried to drown me, only just got away." he flicked his hat behind him and it landed exactly in the center of the table, not moving an inch once it touched the polished surface.
"There are monsters everywhere, I recommend no swimming, school pool is safe if you can see the bottom, if not don't even touch the water. Lake is gorgeous for a picnic, but don't get too close." Nic's tone sounded as if the words he was saying were the most normal ones in the world. "But I'd be wary of her in or out of the water, she takes after her mother."
"She'd probably try to kill us both if I told you that, and trust me you do not want to get on her bad side." Nic chuckled, the girl in front of him, Spencer she had said, had blonde wavy hair that bounced when she moved her head, it was slightly annoying, and kind of hot. "So my advice would be to avoid beating her at cards." He shrugged and walked over to her, but not before grabbing the edge of his hat from behind him with two fingers. Landing in a chair across from Spencer he swung his legs up on the coffee table in front of him and smiled brightly, "Nicolæ Dubois, you can call me Nic."
"Complaining I understand coming from him, but about me?" Nic feigned a hurt look, but smirked after just a moment. "I've probably beaten him a few too many times at too many things. What's your relationship with the brat that uses too much hair gel?" His voice sounded sarcastic and funny, but he wasn't exactly Stephen's best friend, he actually pretty much hated him, but that wasn't important at the moment.
Nic gave a slight nod and tossed his hat onto the toe of his boot, which was slightly scuffed from his jaunt out to the lake and back. He crossed the other leg over and linked his fingers behind his head as he answered with, "Older brother eh? He never mentioned he had a pretty blonde friend, I mean his sister's nice, but you're much more friendly."
"No siblings, I have a group of friends back home that all treat each other like siblings, but since I started coming hers they've kind of fallen of the deep end, then I have Fish-Girl here, but I wouldn't exactly count her as family, more like partners in crime." Nic grinned at the last few words of the sentence, Tekla would probably rather skewer and fry him than help him if she didn't come out of the deal ahead. "What about you, besides the prince with a complex and his crazy sister."
"Siblings take up too much time, I like having the full attention of my parents, much more fun that way." Nic nodded with a bright smile and leaned back comfortably in the chair, his French accent was strong as he watched the pretty girl opposite him.
Louise stepped into the common room, still swinging her stick. She almost knocked over a nearby vase but caught it before it fell and shattered.
"Ha, ninja reflexes am I right?"
"Ha, ninja reflexes am I right?"
"Yes indeed, you have and lucky too because that is one of the schools most priced pieces" Jordan said with a smile as he entered his room making sure that nothing hits shadow who has since moved to a necklace pose around his neck
Louise looked inside the vase before slowly stepping away.
"I always manage to just save my self in the nick of time...like an asymptote. I get closer and closer to getting into a terrible situation but never reach the part where I'm done for...you know?"
Her head whipped to the shelves against the wall before making large strides towards them
"Well hello handsome." she said while stroking the bookcase

Jordan looked at the collection, "if you think that's good wait until you see the library, now that's massive" Jordan said with a smile "sadly we can't see Jose of it because we are "under age"" Jordan lamented
Louise's lip quirked up.
"Under age huh...I see."
Under age shmunder age, if Louise wanted to get something, she did.
"Say, do you want to go out and check out some books tonight? After lights out?"

Jordan raised one eyebrow and said "why after lights out?" Already knowing the answer and agreeing with her, wanting to read those books
Louise chuckled and leaned against the bookshelf.
"Oh come on, we might find something cool in the 'forbidden section', like....secret passages or something totally awesome!" she whispered

Jordan chuckleing said "sure, I can even get the keys quite.....easily" Jordan said with a devious smile on his face
Louise laughed and shook her head.
"I want to know but I feel like you want to surprise me...buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut....why dont you just tell me now ey?" she grinned. This was going to be fun. She always snuck out as a child so this shouldnt be any different...sort of

Jordan thought for a moment then said "I will tell you but keep it a secret okay?" Jordan asked waiting for an answer
Louise nodded.
"Obviously. I dont want to get caught being outside my dorm room after hours"
"Obviously. I dont want to get caught being outside my dorm room after hours"
Jordan nodded "as you probably know my father lost the majority of his magic after he was defeated. The staff he remade and he made it exactly the same but it didn't hypnotise people because he lost his magic. When I was born my father was most surprised to say the least that I gained some of his old magic. Now the school knows that I can summon lightning and have a limited control over snakes. But what they don't know is that I can also hypnotise people as well" Jordan said smiling "sadly it is not as powerful as his so some can easily resist it, you probably could but I bet I could "convince" the librarian that he needs to give me his keys and forget they exist until the morning in which I will leave them on his desk, making him think that he simply forgot them" Jordan said the scene already playing out in his head
Louise gave him an applause.
"Well I must say...I'm impressed. Normally I would intoxicate them but hypnosis...that is something that would very useful...so we're really going to do this?"
"Well I must say...I'm impressed. Normally I would intoxicate them but hypnosis...that is something that would very useful...so we're really going to do this?"
"Of course! It is time to get something back from those idiots, so shall we?" Jordan exclaimed gesturing towards the door
Louise strode forward, leaving her stick behind.
"We most certainly shall!"
((You post first in the library!))

Nic thought for a moment and smiled softly, "Now that you say that a little sibling wouldn't be too bad, someone to boss around for errands and things, could be interesting. Of course I don't think my parents could handle another kid like me." his smile changed into a playful grin as his eyes traveled from the girl to the shelves of books behind her, somewhat curious as to what the school kept on hand for them, then at the same time not at all.
"Boring, my parents aren't from a fairy tale, and I only read verifiable historic non-fiction, even half the information the books say about most of our parents was misinterpreted or just plain wrong." Nic didn't sound angry, or even annoyed, he was just stating a simple fact, and his tone was more sarcastic about it anyway. "Speaking of, who are your parents anyway? You move like manners have been stuffed into your brain since you were born." Technically she hadn't moved much since they'd started talking, but it was still fairly obvious. He hadn't been paying attention to the two other students that had come in during their conversation, just that the girl looked annoying, not completely ugly, but slightly unattractive and definitely nothing compared to the girl who he had the attention of now. The boy with her had that overcast sullen look that made him look like he was planning something, whatever it was didn't even measure with what Tekla could do, so he wasn't worried.
"Cinderella huh? So is the glass shoe thing true? I mean seriously, that couldn't have been comfortable!" Nic smirked, the versions of his parents story were closer than Victor Hugo's novel, which was way before its time, his mother assumed he had some type of prophetic ability, but since he got almost everything wrong his ability obviously wasn't very useful.
"They probably deserved it even if it didn't happen." Nic laughed quietly, sitting up and straightening his white tight t-shirt before leaning back in the chair. He didn't do baggy clothes like most guys his age, though it wasn't like he was ever going to wear something as weird as skinny jeans either. "From what I've read the brothers Grimm got most details right, though some of the people that died in their stories didn't in real life, same with Hans Christian Anderson."
"Yea, or maybe they were just completely insane." Nic smirked, but bristled when his phone started playing music a few feet away. "I'm surprised that thing still works." he muttered before unwillingly standing up and going over to his jacket, which was where he left it swung over the back of a chair. After a short conversation with his dad, who was warning him to stay out of trouble before term started, he hung up and shook his head. "Do I really seem that badly behaved to you?" he asked with a chuckle as he walked back over to Spencer.
"Not a trick question, my dad apparently thinks that I need to be checked on, not sure why since I haven't done anything against the rules this year," Yet he thought the last word with a mental smirk as he smiled at Spencer genuinely. "Now last year was a different story, but I'm a reformed man this time around." he gave a dramatic bow before glancing up and winking at his new friend.
"What didn't I do last year would probably be the more appropriate question there, though most of the things I did get caught doing were tricks by fish-girl, I never actually got caught doing anything that I'd planned out. I guess I'm just a lot smoother with my stuff then with Tek's." Nic shrugged sarcastically, half of Tekla's pranks were actually dangerous, while Nic's just wounded the ego of his victim.
"Yea well she would definitely never let me do that, without me half her plans wouldn't work, and she wants to kill me now, I highly doubt she'd abstain from carrying out some dire plot to get rid of me if I refused to help." Nic's answer sounded completely sarcastic, though there was still some part of him that believed the words. Tekla probably wouldn't try anything at the school, but nobody knew with the mini sea witch.
Nic nodded with a chuckle and shot her a shining grin, "If you'd like to keep your skin on the outside of your body that's the best idea, forest is usually really nice, but go near the lake and you might as well have a death wish." She hadn't successfully killed anyone yet, only because Nic was usually there to drag the poor kid to the infirmary, but she'd definitely tried.
"Well I think most of them are annoying as far as the actual teaching goes, a couple are okay out of the classroom, but most of them just like hassling people." Nic shrugged, a few of the teachers were nice to him off campus, but more than half of them just treated him like a delinquent, of course hanging with Tek didn't exactly help them warm up to him, but he didn't mind all that much.
Nic shook his head with a smirk, "Nah, if nothing else we barely every actually get homework, I guess since most of us don't actually do it they sort of gave up. I mean unless you cozy up to them like a puppy some of them just feed you to the wolves."
"Not sure how anyone could hate a pretty thing like you, but someone like me yes." Nic gave her a sly smile and began to play with his hat absently once again, flipping it over and over in his lap.
"Most everyone isn't like me, in fact I'm not exactly well liked here at school, everywhere else I seem to be but not with people who actually expect me to behave." With a shrug Nic hoped to lighten her mood, though since he'd just met her he had to resort to what he thought was funny, which wasn't necessarily what she thought was funny.
"Nope, but after all of your boring, and slightly pointless, classes tomorrow there's this party that I was supposed to help put together, I haven't actually done anything to help, but I'll probably spike the drinks or something so I think that counts." Nic smirked, technically the party was a school sponsored event, but after a couple hours no one who worked at the school was actually there so they had free reign to do whatever they wanted. "It just so happens that I'm not going with anyone just yet, would you be interested in being my date?"
"Well then I'll meet you down here about seven? I'll give you a ride to the party, it's in town at the Sherwood Dance club, only all ages night of the year." Nic smiled at her answer, but was surprised when his phone vibrates in his pants pocket. After fishing it out he sent a quick reply to Tekla, who he didn't plan on actually saving, and smiled back up at Spencer again.
"Nope, just the lake monster wanting me to save her from the terrors of shopping." Nic chuckled, "Claims to hate my guts, and yet I'm also the one she comes to when she has a problem, but it's not life threatening so she'll be fine on her own." he smiled at her, his hazel eyes bright with a mischievous flair. "She'll be at the party tonight, but I'd keep my distance, she tends to get a little funny when people congregate."
"I'd say to call her Tekky to bug her, but she'd probably drop something rather poisonous that she's not supposed to have in your drink. So her name's Tekla, and if you think she's creepy sounding you should meet her mother, I thank the freaking heavens everyday that I haven't." Nic cringed when he mentioned Tek's mom, who was ten times scarier than her daughter. It was even worse that while many of the other villainous fables, that weren't dead, had been trapped on an island, she was hidden somewhere in the bottom of the ocean, biding her time as she waited to try and take over again.
"Ursula the Sea Witch, and trust me when I say she taught her daughter everything she knows, except of course how to get out of this town. There's wards that keep her stuck here, after she tried to kill some dude that tried to flirt with her in Denmark, they grabbed her right before she went back to the water, and since she wasn't eighteen at the time they sent her here, trying to straighten her out or something." Nic shrugged, it wasn't like it was ever going to happen. As soon as Tek graduated she was going to make everybody think she was totally reformed, until she could get back to the ocean where she would wreak havoc on anyone she could get to.
Already irritated enough with being forced into idiotic clothing, Tek threw open the door and stormed through the room. She stood behind Nic as he said something about her attempted murder case. "Now that you're through explaining my life story, we have work to do." She took a small fistful of his hair and pulled him away, ignoring the girl he was speaking with. It couldn't have been very important anyway, since she highly doubted it was anything to do with their plan to acquire the school's record book.
"Sorry Spence! I'll meet you here tonight!" Nic winced as Tek dragged him out by the hair and waved at Spencer with a wide grin. Tek was strong enough to actually drag him behind her by his hair, but just before they got to the door Nic pulled himself free and ran back over to the other side of the room to grab his hat, "See you." He winked at Spencer and tipped his hat before hurrying back to Tek, who looked completely livid.
"I'm assuming you know of the party this evening, so I'm not going to bother explaining that part." Tek said, skipping the storytelling for now and going straight to the plan she'd worked out in her head. "The faculty will be chaperoning for the first couple of hours, giving us long enough to go into the offices and search for the book." While she explained she popped the lid off of her water bottle and refilled it, topping it off with some salt and mixing it.
"Wait we're doing that tonight? I have a date Tek, what the hell? I mean I guess I could go with her, then slip away to come help you, we'd get back before she even knew I was gone." Nic ran a hand through his hair fluffed it like normal, instead of dragging him out like he'd though she just pulled him into a corner where they wouldn't be bothered. "Besides, are you sure both Azzurra and the bug are going to be gone? I mean, we can't exactly get the book if even one of them is there, they guard each other's offices like it's freaking life or death."
"The point is to open the new year, meaning they would both have to be there to start it. And anyone else would be easier to take care of, if they're not at the party." Tek leaned against the wall and crossed her arms over her chest. "As for your date, she can wait. I can't afford you getting distracted and showing up late or not at all."
"Well I'm not standing her up, I'll drive her there and come straight back, I'll give her some excuse about forgetting some or some crap like that." Nic rolled his eyes, he wouldn't be late to a plan like this, especially since it might get him the means to send dragon turds to Stephen's doorstep over the summer, the look on his face would be completely priceless.
"Fine, but remember if you're late your limbs belong to me." Tek said sharply. "And when we get the book, it's mine as well. I can't trust you not to either lose it or get caught with it." She was much better at hiding things, after all she had managed to keep certain things she used for alchemy hidden around the school and nobody had found a single stash as of yet.
"Well the past few years I've pretty much been your lackey anyway, so how is that any different?" Nic chuckled, playing with his hat between his fingers absently. "How are we going to get in anyway? We found out last year that acid doesn't work, and they have wards on the offices, so what exactly do you plan on doing? And does it involve me losing fingers?"
"Different as in they won't be attached to your body." Tek corrected him, fiddling with the cameo around her neck. "Waiting until they leave, obviously. And you will be setting something up that makes sure the door doesn't close all the way."
