Lex Talionis question

I have been told no one wants to read my latest novel because THE STORY COULD BECOME TOMORROW'S HEADLINES ALL TOO EASILY and readers are not ready for the eventuality.

A woman has a deadly grudge against America and vows to bring the country to its knees. The process she undertakes to achieve her goal is, in part, close to becoming true and I'm now of the thought I may have devised a story that cuts too close to many raw nerves.
