I love this poem "When the Ice Returned", not that I do not like your others, you know I do, it is so powerful and it moved me to tears that is how it impacted on my mind. Thank you for bringing it to me.
Could you PM me a copy as it is in a mixed daily review of numerous sites and it seems that I missed this one, thank you Vincent for bringing joy to my heart. Plus any others I may have missed, thank you.
Ever Yours, Karen
Thank you, Andrea and Karen! This poem will appear in a book that's for a charitable cause (along with many other poems by different authors).
I hope other readers enjoy it as well. :)

I am sure that others will enjoy this poem because it is really emotional, to me, with great inspiration for us all and has a promise to it or at least that is how I see it. If you give me a link to the collection of poems I would purchase a copy. Thank you so much for this information Vincent.
I would let the crisp morning
air fill my lungs in relief when
seeing the ice I thought I'd lost
sparkle in glory upon the battlefields
of my nightmare.
I would rise to the new sun
like a child on a birthday,
my thoughts racing far from the grasp
of the frozen shelf
breaking away from her mother
and bleeding into history.
I would skip under a rediscovered sky,
bluest of sea blues,
and toss my worries of an
uncertain tomorrow
into the river of posterity.
I would rake the footprints
shadowing the path of modernization,
content in the trailless path
behind every achievement,
every step of success and advancement.
I would undershoulder this cloaked weight,
piling for years,
bending my spirit like hunched back,
and run in the meadows
of a future abloom with promise.
Will you wake with me?
