Calvin Brown, Edmund’s son, ends up murdered and someone tried to stage it as a suicide. Was this a surprising turn of events for you at the time? Who rose to the top of your suspect list?

I was sad about this death. He didn't deserve it at all. Amos was my chief suspect the whole time for all the deaths.

His death really bothered me and I didn’t see it coming. I also believed Amos Potter killed him and no one else hit my list through the end of the book.

I was also very upset about Calvin's murder. He was a sweet boy who was only trying to look out for his mother and brothers.

I also didn't like that Calvin died. I suspected who ever killed Blackwood also killed Calvin. I suspected incorrectly.

I was very sad about Calvin's death. And I wasn't expecting it either. He had already been abandoned by his jerk of a father so for him to come to such a sad end was heartbreaking.

It was heartbreaking.

It was sad but I can't say I was fully invested in his character. One thing I've learned from reading years of mystery/thrillers...don't get attached to a character because the author could kill them off in the next book.

That is so true!

Yeah, especially with some authors like Karen Rose. She can be brutal.

There was something noble about Calvin, trying to look out for his mother and siblings.

This is some good advice I should follow more often.

And now I'm sad for Calvin's death all over again
