I think Moore saw Rizzoli's commitment and dedication and Rizzoli appreciated Moore not treating her like the other men.
I also thought Moore admired her skills as a good detective, despite her abrasiveness. After all, she did manage to locate Hoyt. Rizzoli also saw Moore as a good man, maybe putting him too high on a pedestal.
