The Wind is My Mother, Marcellus Bear-Heart Williams (1918-2008)
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
I have read this book before, at least two times, but the teachings & words of this man (whom I knew & spent time with) never really grow old or redundant.
Born in Okemah, OK, to a family that suffered on the Trail of Tears and was brought up in the ways of Traditional Native Teachings.
He went to public schools, graduated from college, and later became an Ordained Minister. But his true calling was helping people heal through traditional Native Medicine ways & ceremonies.
He wrote about how he had no plans on being a "medicine man" but that he was chosen by two different ones to carry on where they left off. He described the lessons & teachings.
He wrote about Native philosophy & beliefs and that "Laughter is Good Medicine". He had, in real life, quite a good sense of humor.
The book is well written, interesting, and balanced. Within many teachings can be found.

I'm glad that I had the push to read this again.
