Hi! I'm Jayne and I'm excited to share different reading experiences with you.I love reading sci-fi and fantasy, but this year I'm trying to read other genres and I'm really happy with the books I read so far.
If you haven't read them yet (but I doubt it) and you want to start reading sci-fi and fantasy you should definitely read Pebble in the Sky, by Asimov (this is the base for Foundation - the serie that made him famous!), The three stigmata of Palmer Eldritch, by Philip K. Dick, Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, and Harry Potter, of course.
- Favorite book of all time.

Hello all! I'm Kate from Montana. I grew up in a library (my mom ran our local one) and have loved to read pretty much my entire life. I work in software development.I read pretty much everything and enjoy pushing myself out of my comfort zone. My favorite book of all time... such a tough question. I have always enjoyed Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth series. This year my husband finally talked my into reading Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings which might be my favorite book so far this year. It also happens to be the longest book of the year thus far.
I love reading in the hammock or by the fire with a glass of wine. Or curled up on the couch with some music and a cup of tea on a cold day. But really anywhere works.
Excited to read with all of you.
Cheers!

I tend to gravitate toward contemporary fiction, fantasy, classics, and travel memoirs (have to fuel my wanderlust!). Over the last few years though I’ve been pushing myself to read more outside my comfort zone, so I’ve been reading a lot of nonfiction too.

Hullo, there. I love historical fiction and have a penchant for time travel books—and if you mix the two, then I'm totally in. Amnesia books have been a late time travel-esque discovery of mine. Otherwise, I also enjoy mystery, suspense, detective, chick-lit (though I abhor this label), and many other genres. Be it Adult or Young Adult, if it's a good book, I'm in.Favorite book of all time: Pride and Prejudice (I'm trying not to roll my eyes with how typical it is, but there you have it.)

Hello, I am currently a 32yr old undergrad and mom of three. I have loved reading since I was a kid. My parents had to make rules about when and where I could read because if allowed, I’d have my face in a book at all times, at the dinner table, under the covers with a flashlight at 2am, family gatherings, weddings, birthday parties, etc. My favorite book of all time is Hero of Lesser Causes by Julie Johnston.
The best book I read this year was Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam. It was required for a History class but it was fantastic.
My favorite reading spot is in a hammock outside when it’s not too hot out.

Hello, I'm currently reading Hitman Anders and the meaning of it all. I liked the 100-year old man that climbed out the window but I found The Girl who saved the King of Sweden a bit tedious. So far I'm liking this one by Jonas Jonasson. My favourite book of all time is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It takes a while to get into it but the character development is amazing. I actually cheered out load at the end!
The best book I read this year was The One Man, by Andrew Gross.
My favourite reading spot is my porch swing when it's not too cold!

Hello, I’m Stephanie and I really enjoy mysteries, but I do read some chick lit and some historical fiction. I’m not much into the classics even though I wish that I did. My favorite book of all time is In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware.
My favorite book so far this year is The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah.
I guess the couch would be my favorite place to read although I read a lot in bed too.
I don’t remember the order of this and that, but I prefer tea, cookies, wine and it’s a tight race between shoes and bags with shoes narrowly beating out bags.

Hi! I'm Shirley, I'm a game developer from San Mateo, California. The Awakening by Kate Chopin has been my favorite book since high school (it's still a common book to be assigned as school reading). It was a feminist text before feminism was even a label and feels more of a category with psychological, moody novellas, like a mix between The Metamorphosis and The Yellow Wall Paper, but set in this lush Louisiana setting near the Gulf of Mexico.
I know I'm late to the party with this book, but I finished The Nightingale early this year. The sister relationship resonated with me, and I went through the book speedily because Kristin Hannah's storytelling is well-paced.
I'd have to say my favorite place to read is outdoors, by trees, although to be honest most of my reading happens in bed.

Keeping Portland Weird, I'm a woman of a certain age who's been reading my whole life. . . .in childhood our big weekly event as a family was walking to the library and my first biggest achievement in life was graduating from 1 book to 3 at the library. Librarians were the wonder workers of my world. . . .I've loved lots, sung lots, worked hard. I've cried easy, talked fast, embarrassed my kids, divorced their father, and quilted. I love people, stories, music, spirits, faith and laughter. I am rich in hope and and bothered by worry about ridiculousness more than I should be. Grandmothering is my best gig. I might write a book one day. . .that is on my bucket list, but I have learned that you need to listen louder than you sing. . .the longer I live the more that whispers up and down my spine. . . .Favorite book of all time. (Yes, you must pick one) Gone With The Wind.
Best book you've read this year? 12 Christmas Stories by Jeanette Winterson. . .I finished it in mid January. . .and it hung with me til late spring. . .

Hi! I’m Mindy, a professional explainer (writer, editor, instructional developer, etc.) from Ohio. I’m also a social media manager for a successful author whose books are being turned into movies. I’ve loved reading for as long as I can remember. I love it so much that I have three degrees in literature.I’m going through some health challenges, so at the moment, I read mostly audiobooks. I like most genres (really all but romances and graphic novels), but my favorites are thrillers and historical fiction.
My favorite books are Alice Walker’s The Color Purple, and JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Favorite book of all time. Child me, Witch of Blackbird Pond. Tween me, Flowers in the Attic. Teen me, Jane Eyre. Adult me, ironically something YA like Simon and the Homo Sapiens Agenda or Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. Best book you've read this year? Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. I can't get it out of my head.
Where's your favorite reading spot? Bed, ideally not my own bed. Er, that sounds wrong. I like to do hotel weekend getaways, and before checking in I like to buy lots of books and candy.

What else? I own a restaurant. I love animals. I'm married. I like reading in all the formats. I enjoy most genres, but a scifi book's synopsis has to really wow me for me to be interested. I'm politically liberal. I digitally borrowed 1Q84 from the library to find it has 1332 pages, and I'm doubting I'll finish it in time since I like to skip between books instead of dedicate myself to just one. Oh, I just hit another decade of life, and I'm ... no longer in my 40s.
Damn.

Hello there! Favorite book of all time - Well the first book that jumps into my head is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but as an adult it is literally impossible for me to have one jump out at me. Best book you've read this year? The Breakdown by B.A. Paris - I liked this one all the way to the very last of the story! (sometimes I get bored with the end when the author is tying up all the story threads)
Where's your favorite reading spot? Literally anywhere. In my dreams I am sitting in a large armchair with my feet up with the evening sun coming in the windows. I have not been able to do that in years! Where I end up doing most of my reading? In the kitchen - while dinner is being prepared (water boiling, oven heating, waiting for dinner to be ready, etc), while the kids are doing homework (12, 11, and 9). I am fidgety and lost when I do not have something to read, so I fit it into my busy life whenever I can!
