Kirsten Ann (kirstenannnigro) | 2 comments Hey thanks for letting me join the group! I'm currently working on my first novel. It's a romance story intertwined in a paranormal/horror adventure but it's not a paranormal romance (haha there's def a difference). Atlas is a college senior in love with his best friend. He finds a mysterious map and they decide to hike it. They meet a mysterious character who helps lead them and they find a world of nightmares.

I'm going to keep track of my daily word count here :)

April 12 - 971 words

My feet pounded on the dirt and my hair fell in my eyes as I flew through the trees. As I got closer I skidded to a stop and closed the space between us, reaching out to grab her arm. She jumped and whipped around, a look of terror, and I saw she had earbuds in. Her face relaxed to a flat expression. She pulled her earbuds out slowly and hitched her thumbs in her pockets. We stood a few steps apart awkwardly. This was new for us. We had always been so comfortable together, so rarely at a loss for words. I studied her face, her still pink lips, her piercing light blue eyes, all held in a look that expressed nothing. She was wearing a veil. She wouldn’t show me what was in her head.
I stepped closer, inches from her face, peering into her eyes intensely. My heart quickened as she stayed still, eyes locked. She didn’t step back, she didn’t say a word. I rested my forehead on hers, and she leaned forward in response. Her eyes darted to my lips, which surprised me. She cracked first, staring at my mouth, opening hers to speak.
“Atlas...about what Brandon said...”
