Maddie lay on her bunk, writing a letter to her grandparents. If they were even still alive. They were sooo old, it was hard to imagine them being alive anymore. Plus, they had lived in Greensboro, so that confirmed their deaths.

Hannah walked into her dorm, she hated it here. It didn't have her brother. She sat on her bed and took out a book she had been reading. She checked if it was the right book, because she had millions.

“What ya reading?” Maddie asked, chewing on the end of her pen. Maybe she should change paths and write fanfic instead.

Hannah looked up and saw a girl who looked like an adult. "Um I-I'm reading a book." She closed her eyes, 'duh you're reading a book'.

“Duh,” She said, rolling her eyes and taking the pen out of her mouth. She turned to look at the girl. “What book?”

"I'm reading Harry Potter." Hannah closed the drawer she got her book from.

“Mm. Nice,” she said, turning back to her letter. She crumpled it up and threw it ten feet into the waste basket.

Hannah watched as the paper ball landed into the basket, "Nice shot. What was it?"

“Letter,” she replied vaguely, blowing a bubble and popping it.

Hannah nodded, "What's your name?"

“Madison” she replied wryly. She crumpled up another piece of paper and rolled over onto her back, tossing it into the air.

"Hi Madison." She looked at the paper she was throwing in the air, "That's a waste of paper," she muttered.

Madison stopped throwing the ball and turned on her side to stare the girl in the eye. “Do I look like I care?”

"N-no, I was just s-saying." Hannah fidgeted with her hands and picked up her book. She stood up and was about to leave the dorm.

“Wait,” Madison said. “Who are you?”

"I'm Hannah," she didn't look at her. She picked up her bag and pt her book in it.

“Sorry for being a jerk. I just realized that my grandparents are dead also, so yippee me,” she said.

She looked up at her, "Oh. That's horrible. I lost my grandma." Hannah sighed, "I guess everyone lost someone because of...you know."

“Not everyone,” she said. “At least biologically.”

"Yeah, not everyone. Is that who your letter was to? Your grandparents?"

“Yep.” She said, rolling on her back again.

Hannah sat back on her bed, "Mmm have you ever read Harry Potter?"

“Yep.” She said again.

Hannah looked up excitedly, "All of them?"

“Yep.”

She smiled widely, "Which one was you favorite? Favorite DADA teacher? Favorite Marauder?"

“I’m not obsessed,” she said, rolling her eyes.

"I didn't say that."

“Based off of how much you know, you are.”

"Y-yeah I guess." She put her book down and sighed.

“It’s not a bad thing,” Maddie told the girl.

"You made it sound like it was."

“That’s just me,” She said, waving a hand absentmindedly in the air.

"Ok." She shrugged, "Maybe you should work on that."

“Yep,” She said, grabbing a magazine and flipping through it.

"You have siblings?"

“Yep,” She said again. Then, “these designs are hideous!”

"What designs?"

“This one,” she said, pointing to a flowered brown shirt.

She didn't see anything, "What's wrong with it?"

“Well, first of all, it’s brown, and second of all, those flowers are not flowers!” She ranted.

"They aren't?" She looked closer, "What are those?"

“What I mean is that they don’t look at all like flowers.”

"No kidding," she kept looking at them.

“Yeah.” She flipped to the next page.

"Who are your siblings?" She looked at Maddie.

“Cameron and Katie,” she said, not giving any further information.

She nodded, "older or younger?"

“Younger. You?” This was a poor attempt to be friendlier, but she had no idea what to say.
