Thomas (thomasathogglestock) | 251 comments Simon and Thomas will be in San Francisco on Saturday, September 22nd and Sunday, September 23rd, 2018 and we want to hang out with our listeners. We are planning a weekend of bookish fun in the City by the Bay and hope some of you can join us. We plan on having a few opportunities to get together, but are keeping things decidedly informal. Some of the things we are thinking of: A book store crawl, a Tales of the City tour, some sort of food/drink related get together, and recording at least two episodes of The Readers with audience participation.

In order for this to be meaningful we need to keep the group size down to about 40-50 participants. Since we don’t plan on having a Booktopia- or Book Riot-level of organization and polish, we need to keep the size manageable. So… the fine print…if you are interested in going let us know via email at the address below by May 15, 2018. If we get more than 40-50 people who plan on coming we will do a random draw and confirm with you by May 20th. (Unless you were planning on going to SF that weekend anyway, you should probably hold off getting your airplane ticket until you get a confirmation.)

Winter (wren99) | 12 comments I so wish I could go. Sounds like a lot of fun! I’ll be looking forward to hearing all about it!

Hardcover Hearts (hardcoverhearts) | 1 comments This may be the best Monday I have had in a long time! I didn't have time to listen to the podcast last night, but really wanted to know where it would be so I was sneaky and just jumped straight to the show notes. Imagine my delight in knowing that The Readers and coming here?! I have the best night's sleep, imagining all the fun it will be to have Simon, Thomas, and fans trolling the city's bookstores! I leaped out of bed this morning to send in my information, and am thrilled.

If anyone wants any information on areas of town to stay, food recommendations, etc, please let me know. I am happy to help out!

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 64 comments I know for sure that I can't attend this time around because of some librarian shortages I am managing (it does happen, ha!) but I really hope you do it again. I'd love to hang out with The Readers and other readers. :)

message 5: by Susan in (new)

Susan in This sounds like so much fun - and I've never been to SF. I don't think I'm going to be able to make it, but I just have to give some positive feedback on NOT picking Austin. I love Austin, but the third week in September it is still crazy hot. It doesn't start feeling like fall in central Texas until mid-late November. And, transportation would be a big deal for non-drivers. So, just wanted to say that while I love it, and think everyone should visit, climate-wise, your coastal choices (both west and east) are much better for the time of year. And, yeah, maybe I'm putting in a subtle vote about locations for the next one. ;)
