I am from Ontario, Canada. I am relatively new to Irish fiction, only discovering its wonderful scope and variety over the past couple of years. Initially, my desire was to use the literature of Ireland to better understand the country as I have, in part, Irish and Irish Palatine ancestors. I have been reading Bernard MacLaverty, Sebastian Barry, and Anne Enright. Colm Tóibín has become a particular favourite.

Failte Donald, you might also like Joseph O’Connor, who wrote “Star of the Sea” which I found heart wrenching. I only recently noticed Sebastian Barry and bought his book, “End of Days, if memory serves. I haven’t gotten round to reading it yet. I have a stack of books a meter high to get through before I buy another one.Hope you get great enjoyment from Good Reads Ireland Group and look forward to reading your comments on your reading.
