I've just finished chapter 20. I am still enjoying the book, but there is something preventing me from thoroughly engaging with it. I think the different narrative voices are indistinct, and have on several occasions found myself having to double-check whether Oriwia or Aki or Daniel is talking. And unfortunately I think I am quite unconvinced by Oriwia and Chappy's relationship. I don't really believe in their love or understand why they married in the first place. It's strange, because I seem to have a much more vivid sense of the peripheral characters - I am enjoying learning about the Krauss family, Paa and Dorothea, the community in Hawaii.
