Thanks, Dustin! I haven't had much chance to be too active round these parts of late, and it's been ages since I did a group read. Hopefully June will be my lucky month.

I’ll second this.
I'll second Loch Ness Revenge by Hunter Shea.I love these topics! I already have a couple mentioned and i've been wanting to get Meg anyway.
I will give a third suggestion for David Brian’s Check out The Boy on the Beach by David Brianhttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
I also think another one of his novellas called Big Bad would be cool.

I wish I was more into creature feature fan. Perhaps I haven’t read many good ones. That being said, one that I will suggest is Glenn Rolfe’s Becoming

And also by the same author, Blood and Rain

But....but...how can DISNEY make the film version of MEG?? They can't do HORROR properly, can they??? ---Jen from Quebec :0)

We can nominate more than 1? In that case i'll add a +1 to Insects and The Lost World as well.
Honestly though this thread is full of great picks!
I scrolled through the depths of my kindle books and was completely surprised to see I have a copy of Boy on the Beach. That’s likely thanks to Randy and his awesome free ebook alerts.
I have another nomination because at this point, why not? lolFor creature feature- Dinosaur Lake by Kathryn Meyer Griffith which is currently free on kindle. I picked it up awhile ago when I saw it was free, think it might be perma-free but not sure exactly.
No matter what gets chosen i'm excited! And I have added so many books to my TBR thanks to this thread ^_^

I second Ancestor.
For cryptids, I'd like to nominate Who Goes There?, which is the short story the movie "The Thing" is based on.

I'll give a third vote to The Boy on the Beach by David Brian.
I'll also second The Rats by James Herbert.
I am going to have such a hard time picking in the poll.A lot of these I’ve already read but also, a lot of them have been on my TBR shelf for a while!
Can we just do all of them? :O
I will second the cellar!

This month we're going to have two themed group reads and those themes are: CRYPTIDS and CREATURE FEATURES
The Oxford English Dictionary defines the noun cryptid as "an animal whose existence or survival to the present day is disputed or unsubstantiated; any animal of interest to a cryptozoologist". Some dictionaries and encyclopedias define the term "cryptid" as an animal whose existence is questionable.
Here's a link to a list of cryptids on Wiki:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...
CREATURE FEATURES are horror stories, (for the purpose of this discussion), that feature animals/insects/rodents gone awry.
Here are the rules:
1. Any books we've read or listened to as a group in the last year may not be nominated. If they are nominated, they will be disqualified.
2. If you are an author you may not nominate your own book.
3. Don't be afraid to "second" or "third" another member's nomination. The more nods a nomination gets, the more likely it will be to make it to the final poll.
This nomination thread will be open until Friday and I'll put the final poll up over the weekend of 5.20.
Let's have fun with this one!
