My inspiration for ARTICLE 5 came one day when I was driving past a bookstore and saw a group outside protesting the release of the 7th Harry Potter book (on the basis that it referenced witchcraft). I had never seen a book protest before and it immediately caught my attention. It made me wonder what would happen if they succeeded in this goal? What other books could be banned? What music? What ideals, and values? Obviously this sort of thing happens all over the world, but in the United States quite often individual freedoms are protected by the Bill of Rights. I imagined a world without the Bill of Rights, and came up with the Moral Statutes. It all sort of fell into place from there.
