What did you think of this book? Which characters did you like the best? Who did you like the least?

This book was a very interesting mystery novel on a missing person, an ex-boyfriend (Caleb) to be more specific.

I enjoyed it, despite it being filled with so much mundane going-on and the main character's (Jessa) constant self-talking/meditating.

There is resolve by the end and I honestly don't know how I feel about it.

In the story, we find out that her ex-boyfriend was actually in hiding and looking to reconcile a relationship with his biological father. Turns out that his dad was wrongfully charged for attempted murder and arson. Who testified against him? Apparently, Caleb's current step-dad and his mom agreed to plant a scheme to set the home on fire and collect the money from the family's life insurance. It didn't go as planned, so they went with a second plan, which was to pass the blame onto Caleb's dad.

Step-dad acts like a stranger who testifies to the Dad's wrongful act. This is revealed towards the end of the book.

Now for Caleb and his mother's actions/demeanor towards him. Apparently, she kept him under her guardianship as it was the only way she could use his inherited money (from his father) and not be questioned by the government. Caleb ran away to find his father and this act causes for his mom to no longer be able to use his money.
She has only two options: keep him under her guardianship, or find a way to have him killed and say it was an accident. This is why she is so desperate to get him back.
She wants him back to dispose of him.

She ends up using Jessa as a way to try to locate Caleb, but never succeeds in actually finding him.

Jessa, along the way, finds romance with someone else through the adventure and ends up officially dating by the end of the book.

Caleb's mom and Step-father are charged with felonies. Caleb and his father remain under the radar and prefer to keep it that way.

In the end, I found the book interesting but the resolution of the story is where I feel so unsure. I particularly am not too fond of it, but I don't hate it either.
