Our book for August 2018 is Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia.

While Zappia has several books on Wattpad, Eliza and Her Monsters is her sophomore novel printed by big-name publishers. Following the artistic and reclusive Eliza, the story is studded with illustrations and storylines of Eliza's own work, "Monstrous Sea."

What are your thoughts on Eliza and Her Monsters, and have you read any of Zappia's other books?

I did read Eliza and Her Monsters some time ago, and I really liked it. I thought it was a really good representation for mental health and thought it had great ideas that would make for a good discussion. I can't wait!

I read Eliza and Her Monsters this past December and liked it. It was an interesting format because Eliza's webcomic "Monstrous Sea" was interspersed with the main plot of the book. As previously stated, I am not huge on fantasy so did not enjoy the "Monstrous Sea" webcomic as much. But I think readers who enjoy fantasy will really enjoy this book. I had Zappia's debut novel with a big-name publisher, Made You Up, on my TBR list for a while but haven't read it because I am not a fan of the unreliable narrator.

This sounds like a book that I would be interested in. I prefer real-world stories so I think I will give this one a try.

This one has been on my to-read list for awhile. I’ve had several friends who have really enjoyed it.
