What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

There's a specific scene in a book (a very pivotal one) that I can't stop thinking about, but I can't remember what book it is from. The scene is one where the heroine is inside her parent's house, and her ex-boyfriend, or some dangerous male, shows up threatening her and she needs to hide. Once she's in her room, she calls the hero (her boyfriend, I think) and he comes and beats up the other guy. Anyone know what book this is?
