When Mattie kills her abductor, we learn he wasn’t Elijah but obviously his son (or someone related to him and much younger). Did you see that coming?

I think this is where reading this book before came into play. I never thought it was Elijah. At his age I'm really not sure he would have had the strength to kidnap and lift pregnant women alone. I kind of thought he was dead even.

Once I determined his age, I then wondered about his agility but still never questioned it was him. I was most shocked to find out it wasn’t him.
