Check out the article I just published in a local newspaper:WRITING A FIRST NOVEL IS LIKE GIVING BIRTH
by Joe Cosentino
The experts tell us to write what we know about, so I began my first novel by writing an outline (with actual paper and pencil) for a mystery/romance entitled Paper Doll. Since I watch old movies, my heroine, Jana Lane, is America’s most famous child star of the 1960's, attacked on a Hollywood studio lot at eighteen years old. Twenty years later, as a thirty-eight-year-old mother of two living in a mansion in Hyde Park, New York, her flashbacks turn into murder attempts.
Given my love for the Hudson Valley in New York, the novel includes locations like the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Home, Vassar College, and Hyde Park Elementary School.
In honor of my favorite authors, my novel has numerous suspects and clues with the murderer discovered at the conclusion a la Agatha Christie. As in Armistread Maupin’s Tales of the City books, my characters are quirky but believable and likeable. The suspects include Jana’s down-on-his-luck husband, Jana’s sister and Jana’s male best friend (who both have eyes for Jana’s husband), Jana’s has-been show business father, her deranged loyal fan, and Jana's young Guy Friday who covets her fame and shares an uncanny resemblance to Jana. Like Mary Higgins Clark’s, my novel is a romantic page-turner. So Jana embarks on a romance with the son of her old studio producer, a handsome filmmaker planning Jana’s comeback professionally and personally.
Given my background as an actor, Jana visits her old Hollywood movie studio to investigate her attacks (past and present) and unmask the murderer. In the process, she uncovers a web of secrets about everyone she loves.
I wrote the outline in a few days, and the first draft in a month. The characters took on a life of their own, as they told me what they wanted to do and say. After I showed the first draft to a trusted reader, my rewriting commenced for months until the book was completed.
Holly McCabe designed a beautiful book cover, and Gerald Fierst and Jeff Walt reviewed the book (both raves) before publication and distribution on Amazon.com. Promoting the book on Facebook and Goodreads brought sales and good customer ratings. Interviews on blogs helped spread the word.
Bitten by the novelist bug, my second book, An Infatuation, (releasing by Dreamspinner Press in February) is a humorous and touching gay romance novella set in my hometown. With my background in children’s theatre, I wrote a children’s book, Nick the Nerd, chronicling a nerdy kid’s transformation into the legendary Santa Klaus. Finally, using my experience in college academia, I am currently writing, Drama Queen, a comedy/mystery/romance novel set in a New England college town.
Writing a novel is a bit like giving birth, incredibly difficult, but amazingly rewarding.
Joe Cosentino has appeared in principal acting roles in film, television, and theatre, opposite Bruce Willis, Rosie O’Donnell, Nathan Lane, Holland Taylor, and Jason Robards. He has written and directed many plays, and holds an MFA from Goddard College in Vermont. Currently he is Head of the Department of Performing, Visual Arts, and Communication/Professor of Speech and Theatre at a college upstate New York, where he created many new courses and programs and directed numerous plays. Hi everyone, if you like urban fantasies with archangels, demons, secret orders and historical facts about ancient times then check out my book
Hi everyone. Here is the list of my published novels. I write everything from Teen/YA to Erotica. Sweet-heart romance to fantasy, altered history, regional historical, contemporary, paranormal, and otherworldly.
A.S. wrote: "Hi everyone. Here is the list of my published novels. I write everything from Teen/YA to Erotica. I have two books already published, Hummingbird and Nightingale, both in the Shadow Weavers series. The third is in its final stages.
Both are urban fantasy/paranormal stories about teenage girls who discover they have been chosen to protect the world from the dark spirits trying to enter it and cause chaos.
I'm working on getting a third, unrelated, story out soon called Unbroken. It's in the final editing stage (only 5 chapters to go, thank God) and its a contemporary romance story with... well, with a lot else going on.
I am Jeron McCall, and I want to introduce everyone to my novels, The Making of a Gangster and The Corrupting of the Redeemer, which are set in America's urban areas.
The Making of a Gangster is about the life of a young gangbanger from a broken home, who engages in destructive behaviors that destroys his life. Throughout the book, the prevailing theme is that even though we have been disadvantaged by racism, our own actions are currently holding us back.
The Corrupting of the Redeemer is about a megachurch pastor who begins his ministry as a good man, but becomes corrupted when he loses his sense of morality. Themes that are prevalent in the book involve greed, dishonesty, racism, and infidelity.
My novels deal with issues involving different aspects of the Black experience in America. They were written to not only engage the reader in an interesting story, but to educate and enlighten. I urge everyone to check them out, and I'm sure that you'll enjoy them.

My name is Juliet C.B. Aharoni, the author of 'Together They Overcame'which was published a few months ago. ‘Together They Overcame’ is a love story between an Israeli soldier and the daughter of a German Catholic. As the tale unravels, it becomes clear why such a relationship in the 50’s might not work.
Although there are graphic sex scenes between the young, married couple, the story is really about their struggle to survive the hatred of the mother-in-law for his wife because she is the descendant of a German Catholic. The setting is in Israel in the late 50's, not long after the holocaust and the memories of the concentration camps still prevail.
'Together They Overcame, weaves fictionalized versions of my own experiences living in Israel into the romantic tale of a newlywed couple striving against all
odds. Together They Overcame is an opposites-attract
romance set in Israel after the 1956 Sinai Campaign. The country is already struggling from the influx of immigrants who survived the World War II concentration
camps, and now also faces terrorist attacks
and food and water shortages.
My novel was written to show "It was the best of times,
it was the worst of times' (from A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens). The quote from Dickens sums up what happens in my novel.
Hi everyone,I am really happy to share my new release - Deep Inside the Museum. Here is a recent review, by Michele Perry, a Goodreads reviewer.
= "I absolutely love this book! It is full of loveable characters (that I wish were real); has strong, passionate, witty men and women; has an intelligent plot with interesting snippets of ancient history info thread throughout and is set in the British Museum! And one of the best things is that the sex scenes are brilliantly written. They are saucy, real, emotive and so, so sensual!
I can't wait to read more about Amelia and her relationship with Will. Amelia is one of the best characters I have read in a long while. And Will, well Will just takes my breath away. This book would make a great movie. Move over 50 Shades - 'Deep Inside the Museum' knocks it out of the park. Highly recommend this book, particularly if you like your erotica to be intelligent!"
So please, check it out and let me know what you think.
Hi Everyone,I've been writing erotica for awhile and have been in several anthologies and just published a book of stories with co-author Anna Watson. I'm new to Good Reads and excited about joining groups and learning about the community here.

Nadine LaForetThe Crime of SeductionHello!
My name is Nadine LaForet and I just published my debut steamy romance this week!
Alex Barton is a hardworking young paralegal in the Emerald County Prosecutor’s Office in the fictional Northern California coastal town of Scottsville. Despite her grueling work life, Alex, a single woman in her early thirties with a passionate nature, yearns for a real connection with somebody. As Alex cruises through the personals of the dating site Compatibility.com one night, she lays eyes on the stunningly attractive Heath Valentine, who reaches out to her online.
Their first date is a sizzling one, and Alex is soon head over heels for Heath, an apparently wealthy man who lives in a tastefully designed house. Alex is thoroughly seduced—though her older and wiser friend Mari warns her not to get emotionally involved. Mari knows a slick salesman when she sees one.
In Nadine LaForet’s suspense-filled debut erotic romance, hot and steamy sex is interwoven with romantic rejection and doubt. For Heath is too good to be true, and Alex is forced to face the embarrassing consequences of her actions. Through a series of twists, a new man comes on the scene for Alex who will accept her for who she is. But even after seeing the light, can she escape the net that has been woven around her?
I have 5 five-star reviews on Amazon and initial feedback has been that the book is fun, sexy, well-written and realistic. Please check it out if you need a fun read to heat up your weekend! The Crime of Seduction
