Jane also has to deal with her parents’ marital issues. What are your thoughts about her encounter with her father and his new girlfriend? Was she out of line, responding like a loyal daughter or a bit of both?

Knowing Jane, I think she reacted exactly as she had to. I probably would have responded the same.

She was out of line as a cop, behaving perfectly as a daughter. Pretty brazen of her father to be flaunting his affair so publicly.

Good point on the difference between her being a cop and a daughter. For Jane, being a cop is who she is as much as being a daughter is....if that makes sense. Another person might have been able to separate the two and act appropriately but Jane is so passionate about what she does and who she is there was no way she could have acted differently.
