The clearest memory I have is that kids use a bunch of thesaurus words in a letter requesting a dog and it impresses the parents greatly. It was a small paperback, a chapter book not picture book, and maybe something you could have gotten at those scholastic book fairs in school? I thought it was called The Magic Thesaurus but that doesn’t seem to be it. It was realistic fiction. Maybe the main character got the thesaurus as a gift and was disappointed at first until she harnessed its power...?
