Looking for a book about a man on death row who talks to a spider to keep him company, I think the book was in spiderman homecoming somewhere but don't remember. I don't know what year it would be published in sadly.

I can't remember how much he talked to it, but I do remember that he ate a spider because he couldn't think of another way to bring it back to his time for examination.
