Welcome! Feel free to introduce yourself here. Tell us a little bit about what you like to read, what drew you to this read-a-long, and feel free to drop your channel, blog, and social media links so everyone can keep in touch!

message 2: by Hannah Cassie (new)

Hannah Cassie (hannahcassie) Hey, my name is Hannah and I have been meaning to read the series for ages but always something gets in a way so when I saw the announcement video I just could not ignore it any longer. I am a booktuber myself and a big fan of fantasy! However, as I live in Germany and due to time zones it might be that I won't be able to join the twitter nights or at least not for full two hours, just as a heads up :)

My booktube channel is: https://www.youtube.com/user/Khalessee

Starr (athomewithabook) | 6 comments Hey! My name is Starr and I’m reader of everything, suffers from book add- which is why I have yet to finish this series. I love the idea of read alongs, but have yet to make it all the way through one 😢. I am a book blogger at theliteratipress.wordpress.com (pretty much everything that doesn’t fall under the umbrella of science fiction and fantasy by women) and wosffwomenofsciencefictionandfantasy.wordpress.com (ONLY science fiction and fantasy by women). You can find me on Twitter @skliteratipress.

Hi Hannah! Don't worry a single bit about the time difference. If you want you (and maybe other readers in your time zone?) can have your own Twitter reading nights and still feel free to answer any questions you see on @readalongtfatf twitter page and post whatever pics, etc. you want for that night. So glad you're hear and looking foward to your thoughts on the series.

Hi Starr & welcome!!! I love your name and actually have a cousin with the same name (spelling and all). So glad you're hear and I hope you'll find our pace relaxed enough that you'll stick with us until the end. Read-a-longs can be tough if they move too fast and don't leave breathing room for other books as a palette cleanser. That's why I tried to give us plenty of time and some fun things in between books to keep us going.

Ahhh, it must be destiny! Looking at your list I see we have similar reading tastes. Hope you enjoy this series as much as I do!

Shana Potter Monroe | 2 comments hi everyone! my name is Shana. I read a ton of fantasy books and I'm so excited to read this series along with all of you. I have read malice and valor. i loved both books but i just never continued so im so happy to get back into the whole series!

message 8: by Ellana (last edited Sep 16, 2018 03:33PM) (new)

Ellana Thornton-Wheybrew (ellanarosetw) Hi I'm Ellana.

I've not read the series before, but I trust Frankie's judgement when it comes to a good book.

You can find me on Twitter @EllanaRose_ and my blog ellanathornton-wheybrew.weebly.com or on Litsy @EllanaRose

I'm in my second year of doing my MA in Classical Studies, so I'm likely to fall behind on normal readalongs; I'm hoping that having a month and sometimes longer for each book will help prevent that.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello!

I'm Reija and I'm excited to join this readalong. I've been seeing a lot of buzz lately for this series, but the books are so chunky, it's less intimidating to read them in a group. :)

I like cats, videogames and comics in addition to my love of books and all things fantastical. I have a lot of pretty intimidating projects at school right now, so I'm really craving some bookish social interaction.

You can find me on twitter @TheBookFinch , on instagram @finchkin .
I also have a booktube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFOf...

message 10: by Shaun P. (new)

Shaun P. | 1 comments Hi everyone!

I'm Shaun and I have been wanting to read this series for a while. Have had the first book sitting on my Kindle since I first saw it on Booktube over a year ago. I will most likely be starting the first book a bit late though as I will be participating in the Books in the Freezer readathon for the first half of the month.

I read mostly fantasy, horror, and sci-fi but also read literary fiction, true crime, mystery, biography and really whatever I'm in the mood for at the moment.

I can be found on twitter and instagram at eclectic_reads and also on my booktube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6vN...

Denise (deesbooknook) (deesbooknook) | 1 comments Hi there everybody!

I'm Denise and I've been wanting to read this series for a while now and I've had the first book on my bookshelves for what seems like forever.

I enjoy reading mostly anything (except for romance) that catches my attention at the moment.

message 12: by Brandy (new)

Brandy Walker (brandysbooks) | 8 comments Hello everyone my name is Brandy :)

I’m so glad we all convinced Frankie to host this readalong because I was so intimidated with this series! Might have been years before I actually found courage to pick it up.

Looking forward to sharing thoughts and such with you guys!!!

First off - I hope you have an excellent school year! Second - this is exactly why I wanted to give plenty of time for each book. We all have busy lives and soon we'll be into the holiday season. I wanted to keep things loose enough that everyone had time to squeeze these fantastic books in. See you around the comments!

I'm SO excited you're joining in Brandy. I'm hoping that everyone will jump in with questions, answers, theories, etc. and that will help us all get a deeper understanding of the books. I know it will be great.

message 19: by Brandy (new)

Brandy Walker (brandysbooks) | 8 comments I plan on tabbing and keeping notes on the chapters, nothing too in depth though. I think it’ll help me keep who does what, who goes where, what happens to who, plot twists, potential foreshadowing....etc.

I’ve been slowly working my way up to it so now I feel 100% ready!

message 20: by Brandy (new)

Brandy Walker (brandysbooks) | 8 comments Yes, Frankie set up chapter blocks (I’m making that name up, idk if it has a more technical name). The first 12 chapters are up for discussion at the end of the first week (I’m assuming). So those who don’t want to be spoiled should avoid the chapters discussions until they’ve caught up.

Again, I’m totally assuming but Frankie will probably clarify after she reads this 🤣

message 21: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5 comments Hello,

I'm Laura and I am trying to get a little more involved in the book community. But fantasy (and some sci fi) is definitely one of my favorite genres, as well as science and history books. I am really looking forward to reading along, and when I saw Frankie's video mention it, I got excited.

Just graduated college and started an intense training program for work, but I think that the month/month and a half per book will be perfect for reading along (even packed the book with me).

Monica **can't read fast enough** (wwwgoodreadscomuser_monlat) | 2 comments Hello all, I'm Monica and I read and enjoy a little of everything. I've been wanting to read this series for a while now and this is the perfect opportunity to finally dive in. I look forward to the discussions.

Yes - I would not recommend going into the next set of chapters unless you have read through. If you want to be extra nice, you can make readers aware of spoilers, but yeah it's a good rule of thumb to expect spoilers to come out through discussion.

If you are in chapters 1-12 discussing something and you know you're going to tie it in to something that happens in later chapters - please advise of spoilers in your post.

Jennifer | 7 comments Hey everyone, I'm Jennifer. I have to admit I wasn't a big reader during my teens and early 20's until a little show called Game of Thrones happened and got me reading the series. Because of that, it made me fall in love with the fantasy genre and made me the avid reader that I am today.

I have read Malice sometime last year and really enjoyed it but have yet to read the rest of the series. I will definitely be rereading Malice and I'm looking forward to chat with you all. ;)

I did have a booktube channel but gave that up but I do have Twitter & Instagram so if you want to follow me, my twitter is @jheyroth & Instagram is @jenheyroth.

I have loved Damien Lynch's interpretation and voice, you can listen to a sample on Audible see try that and see if you get on with his portrayal :)

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

I have not listened to the audio book version yet. However the narrator is the same gent who narrates one of my all time favorite audiobook series - Ranger's Apprentice by John Flanagan. So I took the plunge.

message 34: by Emma (new)

Emma Organdie (organdie) Excellent, thanks guys. I have the physical edition in my hands (eeee!) but I might buy the kindle version in order to get the audio too on sale.

Grace Cunningham | 3 comments Hi Frankie! I'm Grace and I am really excited to take part in my first official Readalong. I've done the SSF Awards the past 2 years but didn't post much about the books. I'm trying to become more involved and am looking forward to working my way through this series. I've been reading SFF since the 80's...that aged me! Anyways, I don't have Instagram so suffice it to say, I have just started reading!!

Melissa | 6 comments Hello! My name is Melissa. I am a huge book nerd and my favorite genres are sci fi, fantasy and YA. I have had this series on my TBR for awhile but never got to them because they’re just daunting. I mean look at them. So, I’m so excited to participate in this readalong. I’ve even bought candles that smell, I guess, medieval-fantasy-ish (also planning on getting some mead too because when in Rome). Thank you Frankie for putting this together!

Ok I love your energy - yes let's "when in Rome" this thing to the max. Soooooo, not sure if you know, but I'm kind of obsessed with bookish candles. As a result, I'm going to need the candle vendor & scent that you're burning so I can peruse for myself. :D

I went full Paddywax with the Edgar Allan Poe candle and the Evergreen Pomegranate. I really liked the combo. Plus Spotify has a playlist called Medieval Ambient that was working great for the book too. When I get my day off on Sunday I'll add the mead too ;)
