I just finished reading the amazing YA novel by Marissa Meyer that is Renegades. Overall I loved the book and the characters were so well written. However, I spent the whole book confused by Ace Anarchy and was really confused by the ending. I have reread the last chapter a couple of times and can still not decide whether or not Nova knew Ace (Alec) was alive the whole time.

Im not really sure but i believe nova didn't knew till the end. The more i read the more I felt like Nova was kind liking being a renegade so I feel like it would have been more issue in the case she knew about Ace all the time.
when you read book 2 it shows she knew the whole time as she talks about him being the being reason they lived in the tunnels xx
Yeah but I'm not sure about the beginning where it was like "ace was dead" but maybe she wanted other people to believe it. and in archeneimies, she kinda was like "yeah i know you've been alive" and at the end of renegades she kinda did know so....
I do agree that she knew he was alive the entire time. It was very confusing in the first book and it took me a few times reading through the end to figure out if she knew.
*Spoilers* Just finished the book! I'm a bit confused by the ending though. Like what was Ace doing down there? How did Nova know to go to the tomb? Does anyone else know he was down there? Did Phobia kill Adrain's mom and how? Ughhhhhhhh, I have more questions than answers. I have not read Archenemies or Supernova yet, so please don't reply with any spoilers, I just wanted to rant.

Discovering his helmet is still intact seems to be something he could use to his advantage to possibly regain his power. It's a bit confusing on the wording, but Nova seems to know where the tunnels behind the poster lead, but Phobia or another Anarchist would have told her that Ace was in the tomb. Phobia knows that Ace is down there as he brings food for Ace, but it is left open to whether or not the other Anarchists knew. Nova wonders about if any of the other Anarchists had made the pilgrimage which I found to be very confusing wording. For your final question, it's not yet confirmed or not if he or someone else killed Adrian's mom or how she was killed.
If I'm being honest, I think that plot twist was sloppy and didn't fit well into the story. Nova had to have known though. She doesn't seem surprised, she even says there was a constant cycle of Honey being worried about Ace in the 2nd book.
Yh I agree it could have been written in so much better. I personally loved the book though so it wasn't a deal breaker for me
Yeah, it wasn't a deal breaker, but I thought that at the very least we could get hints over the course of the book so it makes more sense. The book is still good, but I recommend the Lunar Chronicles, her other series. 10/10.

Yes! The epilogue reveals that Magpie is Evie, who was rescued by Tsunami and brought to Renegades Headquarters after she was shot and her powers emerged.
I know omg omg I want nova to find out but there isn't another book. She better be doing a short story or we riot!!!!!!
Yes, because how could she just walk down to where he was hiding in Arch-Enemies? She would of had to known he was there. Also one of her main motivations was Ace so if he wasn't around all she would of been thinking about was trying to avenge him.
I think Nova did know Ace was still alive, and the author was just trying to hide that until the end.
