I think her father convinces her (the girl is aged about 8 at the start) that it's the end of the world, and they have to live off the land in a cabin.

The story passes over years several years until the girl is about 15 and meets a man who also seems to live in the woods. In the end she finds her way out of the woods and back to her mother and family.

The book came out in about 2016.
