Maeve's relationships with the various member of the cadre are highlighted in this book. It is revealed that she knew all along that Rowan and Aelin were mates and manipulated them. She has basically enslaved Fenrys and his twin, Conall, and put a "hit" out on Lorcan. Thoughts on her actions and the way she uses the blood oath to control these men.

Maeve's actions do not surprise me at all. Everything I have ever read about Maeve shows her as a cruel, controlling Fae (The Dresden Files for example :-) ). She is powerful and feared by many. She likes it that way.

Maeve is definitely one of the darkest of the fae Queens in mythology. For some reason; however, I always perceive of Mab in the Dresden Files as worse than Maeve, perhaps because she plays a larger role in the narrative.
