Fate of the Ichthyosaurs

Brusatte points out on page 231 that ichthyosaurs are not dinosaurs, but does anyone know the precise fate of the plesiosaur, for example? I had purchased this book to learn it, and was disappointed to learn Brusatte was a student only of their landlubber lizard cousins.

Well, the book is called The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, so while I also wish it had gone more into the other animals that died out alongside them when discussing the Cretaceous extinction, it made sense that it didn't. Plesiosaurs and other aquatic reptiles like pliosaurs were not dinosaurs either. For the record, they did live into the Cretaceous and perish at the same time.

Anna Do you know their precise cause(s) of death, Robert? I posted this in hopes of getting some reading recommendations on the fates of the ichthyosaurs.
