I ran through the dense forest, dodging trees and leaping over roots. I heard the snapping of twigs behind me growing closer. My breath fogged up the cold air. My bare feet numb from the ice cold snow. I slowed down when I didn't hear anything chasing me. I spotted a nearby large tree, large enough to hide behind. I jogged towards it to catch my breath. This prey and predator game is making my legs throb. I don't get the point of this. And above all: Why am I playing as the prey?

The annual Prey and Predator game is a tradition from my pack. Have the most experienced hunters chase you for two hours, if you win you will be one of the most respected pack members and earn a spot on the council, if you don't, well...
I check the time. Fifteen minutes left. I'm surprised I lasted this long. I quickly catch my breath and think of escape routes. They definitely know where I am. If they close in I need a plan. I close my eyes and think.

My eyes snap open. I start to climb. I love climbing, ever since I was a pup. Best part is- No one else in the pack enjoys it as I do. I grin wolfishly, my canine teeth sparkling.
I tug on the branches once, making sure they're sturdy before I continue. The footsteps continue. I climb faster, now ten feet off the ground. I get to the top and start moving from tree to tree, leaping six feet at a time.

I grin and do a shushing motion with my finger. My grin still plastered on my face as I look around me. I point under me, trying to indicate someone is chasing me. I check the time. Five more minutes. I make a five with my hands.
I blush in the dark, imagining how ridiculous I sound.

Shit! I wave my hands frantically, as I do my timer beeps, and fireworks go off. "It was a test, no danger. Put those away." I half laugh. I wonder if you can hear my voice wavering.

I grin sheepishly, my face blushing. God, why am I always so horrible at talking to other people I find attractive!
I hop down from the fifteen feet or so tree. My legs don't even string. I look at her and smile. Time to celebrate my victory.
I am now part of the Red Moon council.

"Valeri." I reply. My cheeks continue to redden. A twig snaps. I whip my head in that direction. Down comes Rem. I sigh.
When he sees me, he grins, his teeth shining in the moonlight. Rem is my den mate, or so our parents think. We both made it clear that we weren't interested months ago. His golden eyes meet mine. "Good job, runt." I leap at him.

I pin him down, not easily. His body is mostly muscle, which shows in his arms, legs, and torso. I grin. "Pinned ya." He frowns.
"Get off me." He grumbles. I precede to do so.
"Eighty to seventy-two." I recite our score. Pointing to each of our scores as I say it. I look at her. "What's your name again?"

I smile. "The little runt is Rem." He shoots me a glare, I smile.
"They sent me here to get you, you know. We need to get going." I sigh.
"Whatever." I look back at the horned girl- Arana (don't have special characters). I smiled sweetly at her, a firework shot up in the sky, a brilliant white and gold. The light seeped through the trees, just enough to see my face, probably blushing, my eyes closed as I smiled.

(OMG SO SORRY!! The notif was swept away in all my other ones!! I'm so sorry!)

I turn back and catch up with Rem. He smirks at me.
"She's cute ya know." He says. I blush even more.
"Don't tell me things I already know." I mumble. His eyebrows shoot up for a split second then settle back down. He smirk returns. His white canine teeth shine in the fireworks light. "Shut up..." I say and race in front of him. "Race you back, runt!" I call out and speed away, smiling. I'm pretty sure I look like a goon, but I don't care. In the moment, I start laughing as I race down the hill full of trees. I can feel warmth everywhere around me in the bitter cold. I want it to stay like this forever.

I slip on the white fluffy snow on the ground. "Shit!" I yell an tumble downwards. A sharp pain stabs my left leg. I cry out. It's more of a piercing howl than anything. The darkness fills my eyes. Silence.

Rem~
I bolted down the hill. Dammit Val. Why- no, HOW does this always happen to you?! "Tch." I slow when I see her familiar figure. "VALERI!" Something stabs the side of my neck. A bright light. Darkness.

(Nope he dead)

My eyes flutter open. My leg throbs. My throat is dry. I can't speak. The room is light, it must be mid afternoon. The light shimmers through the white curtains. The room is a lavender color. My favorite. Realization slaps me in the face. Why am I in a hospital room?

I see a cat next to me. It's eyes meet mine. I blink and scream. I'm terrified of cats.

My eyes widen. My face turns red, I direct my attention to the bed sheets. My leg throbs, I wince. "Ow..."

(haha yeah XD) "I'm fine." i answer. The nurse raising her eyebrows, clearly not believing me, however she still leaves the room. My eyes flicker towards the beautiful woman next to me. I look back down.
"Thank you, by the way..."

"For what?" I meet her eyes. I can feel my own softening. My hair falls from behind my ears. I smile at her warmly. You did nothing wrong!" I allow the smile to reach my eyes as I close them. My cheeks grow warm.

My eyes widen. I can feel my heart pound, as my stomach drops. Tears prickle my eyes. "...What?"

Memories of that night come flooding back. The tears fall. My jaw slackens. I can feel the pure shock invading my face. The tears continue to flow while I just sit there. I don't bother to wipe them away.

I look up at her. My tears keep flowing out. I can't stop them. I start to sob, loudly. I hug my knees and sob, scream, and call out his name. My heart pounding because of my shaky breaths.
