This month, a twist on the spooky October theme! Read a dystopian or (post)apocalyptic book! It does not have to be horror.

Eve (eveofrevolution) | 123 comments I'm planning to read Bird Box since it's been on my list 5ever!

jk I'm actually going to read Severance bc I'm reading too many dudes in October already.

Tejal (ohsodebonair) | 78 comments I earmarked The Salt Line for this month a while ago so I'll be reading that.

Kristen Ashley | 25 comments Been meaning to reread 1984 for awhile so this is a perfect opportunity.

message 7: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (lapetite) | 58 comments I don't particularly enjoy dystopian books (they depress me). I was going to read Station Eleven but someone on ONTD told me it's not a good book to read if you suffer form anxiety. I kept looking and found Green Heart which caught my attention so I'm hoping it's good.

Sasha | 104 comments I thought it would be harder to find something to fit this category that it was. Going through one Goodreads list, I had a couple on my to-read. I'm going to try for The City of Ember, which I never saw the movie version but I think I wanted to see it when it came out a while ago, or We, which is a book my friend rec'd to me. We shall see.

Juliana (julzreads) | 94 comments I was thinking of reading Cinder. Does that count for this challenge?

message 10: by susan (new)

susan | 53 comments I actually have a lot of books to read this month, so many dystopias I've wanted to check out, but man I've been left exhausted by the mystery challenge lol we'll see if I get through them

Definitely want to try Station Eleven and The Book of the Unnamed Midwife. Might start with Player Piano bc Vonnegut is so good at providing some levity for these subjects haha

message 11: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Zaccaria I'm not too into dystopian stuff but I am happily going to read
Scooby Apocalypse, Volume 2 since I quite liked the first volume.

message 12: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Crawford | 9 comments I just picked up The Postman by David Brin. This is not a genre i read but the book looks interesting

message 13: by Sam (new)

Sam (samjunipero) | 41 comments I think I'm finally gonna give Bird Box a read for this challenge.

I added the link to the ONTD post in message #2 up thread. I had forgotten to add it once the post got up - thank you for the reminder, Lea!!!

Alyssa (girlcomeundone) | 155 comments i'm going to read Unwind, and Brave New World. i will probably also read Horns which i dont think qualifies for this challenge but i have read a Joe Hill book every October for the past few years and i want to keep up my tradition.

message 16: by Kim (new)

Kim | 65 comments I read Severance oh man it as terrible. Name dropping Clinique every other paragraph. World is ending everyone is dying and the lead character is concerned with moisturizing her face.

Seriously the ghost of her mother kept returning to mention moisturizing.

message 19: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Zaccaria I read Scooby Apocalypse, Volume 2. The pace of Vol 2 is very well-done following Vol 1. I still have the same annoyance with the dialogue but it wasn't quite as bad this time. I especially loved the subtle Trump-mockery. Fantastic. Will definitely continue to Vol 3.

:-( I was wanting to read this book and thought it sounded good, but since I have a stupidly huge TBR folder, I won't make it a priority.
