Great book! I wish I would've stopped and updated my thoughts on the sections leading up to this because I predicted most of the ending, but Im not sure how long it took me. For a debut novel I was really impressed by this book. There were a lot of twists and turns and even though I saw most of them coming, I thought it was still well done and entertaining. I figured the killer would get on the agoraphobia counseling site, but I wasn't for sure how that would look so I was surprised when he was able to get so close to her that way. I also thought something was a little weird about Ethan and the whole story seemed shady so I suspected that he was involved in some way, but the way he orchestrated it all and the way his dad went along with it surprised me. I also thought it was interesting how he turned the tables on her and started photographing her.
I thought it was interesting that the author chose to make her a therapist. It was a good way to make her vulnerable and for us to know that she was educated and generally mentally stable (prior to the death of her family). I questioned her reliability as a narrator throughout but I knew it was too easy and unbelievable to say she made it all up.
I love books that make you question whats truly going on and when they put the character in the position in which they're forced to question themselves. Anna wondered if she really was just making it all up and I try to put myself in that position and think of what a strange and scary feeling that would be.
My only outstanding question is why the author chose to start the book with the Miller's and the cheating that was almost discovered. I guess it was just to show how she observes her neighbors, but that never really came back up in the story so it seemed a little out of place.
