How a "spell it out" works Spell out the word(s) using the first letter in the book's title, the first letter in the author's first or last name, or the first letter of a character's first, last, or nick-name, or the first letter of the series name. As always, if the first letter of a title starts with an indefinite or definite article ('A', 'An', 'The', etc.), you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word. If you are listening to an audiobook, the first letter in the narrator's first or last name also can be used. We're also allowing for Translators names, as long as the edition you are reading is a translation version.

Hi teammates. I see some familiar faces and new one as well. Well welcome to Team Jack, which is one of my favorite cartoon movies. I hope everyone is looking to have some fun. I know I am.
Hi!I'm super excited to join this challenge! It's my first Wheel-a-thon and I hope this one is going to be a great one:) Nightmare before Christmas is also one of my favourite moves (it's both a Halloween AND a Christmas movie - I mean, what else can you want). Extra happy that I'm in Team Jack, who is of course the best character in the movie:)
Hi everyone! I'm really looking forward to this challenge! I have to admit though, I've never seen Nightmare Before Christmas. May need to add it to my watch list for this Halloween or Christmas season.
Tati wrote: "so, what do we need for the first week?"Well, our first word is TOMBSTONE, so if some of you are planners (keep in mind that the challenge is little less than 3 weeks away-there is still quite a lot time before it starts) you can start looking for books that could be used for the spell-it-out (rules are in that post ).
Also, we can get extra points for books that have tombstone:
a) in the text
b)in title/series name
c)on the cover
d)as genre (doesn't have to be MPG, but if you click on the Top Shelves, it does have to be on the first page)
NB! we can get extra points once per category, so that means we need only one book for each category AND these books must also work for the spell-it-out.
I'm neither the captain nor the co-captain, so Carmen or Plethora, if I said something wrong, please feel free to correct:)
Hi everyone!my shelf is w_2018.
I may have the title/series name covered. I'll let you all know soon if i can get my hands on the book.
For the genre, you can find a list of all the available books here, but not all of them have it listed as tombstone in the first page. And in my opinion they are all weird =D
That isn't a very long list. But it does seem like something that wouldn't be used as a tag a bunch.I would probably use it with my cover item shelves, so it would be more like xcover-tombstone if you were to find that word on my shelves.
Hi team. I’ll be adding some stuff throughout the day/s. Please add your wheel shelf so I can add it and it makes it easier to check books being shelved. Thanks
Kristel your correct. We only need one for each. It would give us extra points. So for those planners, if you find any of these books and plan or not planning on reading them and want to share what you found it would be great. I think “The Graveyard Book” has a tombstone on the cover. Not sure if it fits other tasks but I’ll check. 😀

I actually have The Graveyard Book out from library for another Challenge. I can hold to read on the 28th i think.

I've sent PMs to Claire and Keli so they should be poppin in soon. I've added info that may be important and links as well. We have a Books Read thread as well so that you can post your completed books which would make it easier to find instead of it being lost in our chatter :-)
Carmen, Thank you for letting me know! My shelf is here.

Looking forward to play with you all.
Hi everyone old, new and current (Tati). This looks fun. I'll see what's good for Tombstone with a tombstone somehow in/on it. Here's my shelf https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Tati wrote: "do we have a planning sheet?"No Tati. I put a tracking post above so we can have people claim letters/spots. Its not a long challenge so we thought we would need a planning sheet.
Hi team.I found a book that will work for tombstone in series. Yay! Mail Order Outlaw - Series: The Brides of Tombstone :-)
Has anyone found anything?
I have been sneaking into other teams threads and found that for genre we can use both TOMBSTONE(S) or GRAVEYARD(S). Just letting you all know:)
Kristel wrote: "I have been sneaking into other teams threads and found that for genre we can use both TOMBSTONE(S) or GRAVEYARD(S). Just letting you all know:)"Much better 😃
Kristel wrote: "I have been sneaking into other teams threads and found that for genre we can use both TOMBSTONE(S) or GRAVEYARD(S). Just letting you all know:)"That's good to hear :)
I planning on reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, that has TOMBSTONE in the text. Also, I'm going to readOpenly Straight(works for O, B) and Siege and Storm(works for S, B, M, O, N)
Awesome! You ladies are planning. I'm going to add this to the tracking post so we know what we have covered ☺
I'm planning to read O Is for OutlawWorks for O, S (author Sue Grafton) or M (main character surname Milhone) and possibly others depending on characters in this book
I will be away this weekend for a girls' trip, but we are coming back on Sunday. I'll jump in to the challenge Sunday night.Wish I didn't get carsick reading - I'll be in the car for 5 hours on Sunday and that would be the perfect time to knock out some letters!
Wow you're all planning away. I have to admit I'm more of a as I go reader. The only thing that I'm sure of is that I'll be listening to one of the In Death novels as I'm currently re-listening the entire series. I'm at #38 at this moment, so I'll probably start #39 in the weekend.I'll see what is needed when we start.
