Elizabeth Meadows (lizziefaye) | 424 comments This will be our discussion thread for Part 8 to the end. This is Chapters 16-30, plus the epilogue and is roughly 160 pages. Feel free to also give your thoughts here on the book as a whole.

Chloe (Always Booked) (alwaysbooked) | 18 comments I just finished the book and honestly did not like it at all. I didn't like Tess from the beginning and I think that just disengaged me from the story. I struggled to get through it and did not care. I didn't buy into the romance at all. The parts about the grandparents were interesting, but overall I'm really disappointed- I like Susan Wiggs! Elizabeth- I swear I'm not a hater of all the books! I didn't like Cherry Cola Book Club or this one so I feel super picky lately! haha

Elizabeth Meadows (lizziefaye) | 424 comments Haha! Chloe, I'm so tickled that you are not afraid to express your feelings, and you still do it in a positive way. I may not like the book either. I actually hope to start it this weekend. I had just been seeing it on Sarah's bookshelf and thought it would be a fun buddy read. However, I have only read 2 Susan Wiggs books and I'm 50-50 with her so far. I really liked an older one called The Good-bye Quilt. However, I wasn't a big fan of Map of the Heart that I read last month.
You just never know if you'll like a book until you give it a try.
Are there any books or series that you think you would like for us to read next year in this group. I am open to suggestions.

Books In Every Room | 18 comments I plan to read some of Janette Oke’s Canadian West series next year if anyone wants to join me.

I think I've read 5-6 Susan Wiggs and they're all 3ish stars for me. The Goodbye Quilt is one of my favorites that I've read though. I've read it since I had my daughter so it made me exceptionally emotional haha. I think she does a lot of cute stories, but usually nothing spectacular. I have 3 or 4 more of hers on my bookshelf, including Map of the Heart, so I'm hoping they get a little better! I think the main character in this one just rubbed me wrong so even a great story would've just been meh for me. I hope you like it!
Thanks for asking for suggestions! I have a ton of books/series on my shelf that I'd love to start! I'll list them below and if any sound interesting to you, I'd love to have joiners! (No guarantees they'll be good, they're just ones I've picked up along the way!)
Ten Beach Road Series- Wendy Wax
The Manning Sisters/ The Manning Men/ The Manning Brides- Debbie Macomber
The Walsh Family Series- Marian Keyes
Summer Harbor Series- Denise Hunter
Firefly Lane/ Fly Away-Kristin Hannah
That's it for series, but I also have "The Passionate Mom: Dare to Parent in Today's World" that I'd love to read and I think would be really fun to do in a group if anyone's interested!
Thanks for asking, thanks for organizing this group, and thanks for not being offended that I didn't love this particular book!

Elizabeth Meadows (lizziefaye) | 424 comments Hi Chloe, my internet is out at home and I'm at the hospital with Emelie for a couple of days. I haven't had a chance to look up your suggestions but I'm interested in anything Debbie Macomber. I may even have one or two of the series you mentioned. I've completed three series by her and really liked them.

Elizabeth Meadows (lizziefaye) | 424 comments Colleen I might like to re-read some Janette Oke. Plus I can't remember if I ever read book 6 of the Canadian West series.

Elizabeth Meadows (lizziefaye) | 424 comments I'm about half done with the last section and am about to head home from the hospital for the next 24 hours. I'll finish it up when I get back. I just finished Chapter 23 which was Tess's confrontation with the exwife after her night in bed with Dominic.
Is it me or can you be reading a perfectly interesting and entertaining story and then all of a sudden its ruined when someone decides to jump into bed? Ugh! I'm with you on this one Chloe. I'm not a fan of this relationship either.

Chloe (Always Booked) (alwaysbooked) | 18 comments Elizabeth I definitely agree! I don’t know if the intention is to draw in a broader scope of readers by including unnecessary sex scenes and relationships or what the goal is but it disconnects me from the story and makes me put less value on the rest of the book. I don’t care if characters have sexual relationships, it just has to be believable or progress the story in some way and I feel like their relationship was really unnecessary to the story.

Donnajo Finally finished the book. Yes it dragged for me at times but I had other books going at the time. I ended up enjoying the ending. I pushed my way though the final maybe 50 pages tonight. i think what got me though was Tess and maybe her connection to Dominic.

Donnajo Chloe, The books you mentioned. I think I read the Debbie macomber's long ago. Loved Kristin Hannah's books read those too. Marian Keyes met her long ago with her husband at a book signing she did. They got there early and the first thing they did was ask all of us to go get something to eat them them. we didn't but she had us laughing at the signing. I remembered her husband was so good looking. I read her one book at the time got it signed and bought a few other's which I never got to read. I think something about the book I read of her's just turned me off.
If there are two Wendy Wax Ten beach series books out I believe I own both. I bought them at a library sale last year. I might be interested in reading them as a buddy read at some point. Any help to get me though my own print books is appreciated.
Back to Susan Wiggs. I've always enjoyed her books in the past too. usually 5 and 4 1/2 stars. this one I might have to give a 4 or possible 3 1/2 rating. Not sure how fast I will be reading the sequel of this book which I might own a copy of.

Chloe (Always Booked) (alwaysbooked) | 18 comments I'm jealous that you met Marian Keyes! She is one of my favorites. Do you remember which book you read? I am definitely going to google her husband... haha.
I think there are 6 books in the Ten Beach Road series, but I'm not sure! I agree that reading my own print books feels good and needs to happen more!

message 15: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo It was so long ago I meet her and probably read the book before I was on goodreads maybe. my guess is Lucy Sullivan one not sure. Probably a signed copy around here someplace or in storage. Or maybe I could have read the book before meeting here I think it was before I moved here in 2000. It was at my favorite indie bookstore that is no more. Same place I meet Mary Higgins Clark many times and her daughter.
Whatever Ten Beach Road books I have I got at a library sale last march. I can check that because I have a shelve on goodreads for the library sale books.

Donnajo Have the 1st and 3rd books in Wendy Wax series.
1. Ten Beach Way
2. Ocean Beach
2.5 Christmas at the beach
3. The house on mermaid point
4. Sunshine Beach
5. One good thing
5.5 A bell Flora Christmas
6 Best Beach ever.

My library system has 2, 4, 5 and 6. They don't have the betweens. Love a good beach series. I remember before the 6th one came out I saw it on netGalley for request and was going to request it until I saw it was part of a series that I hadn't read yet.
