It was very strange behavior. When Mrs. Alberton interviewed Maeve for the position, I felt like she loved her daughter/granddaughter, and wanted a good person to take care of them. But then we found out they never paid any attention to Iris who acted out in extreme ways. They also didn't visit with Christina. I was shocked when it said a wall had been build between the wings so they didn't have to hear them.
The Albertons had lost their son and the daughter that they knew became a stranger to them. It is as if they lost both of their children and I think they feared that Iris would be as disturbed as her mother (in fact, Schizophrenia is hereditary in some cases).Separating themselves both physically and emotionally from Christina and Iris was a defense mechanism. I feel really sorry for the whole family.
The whole family was tragic. However, I just don’t understand how you can ignore your grandchild. Christina I get but not Iris.
