So now that we are a month in do any of you have ideas that might help us grow ... things to add to what we do or things that would entice us to share more or things to attract new members? Or, anything else.
I LOVE what we are doing. Everyone is kind of following their 'conscience' on what reading the world means. I want to 1) make sure the book is about the country; I want to learn something 2) translations are secondary; most important is that the book is cultural for the country. That being said, I am still glad I am reading Blindness even though it is not about Portugal, per se.
I have found another 'world list' that I would like to share:

I think my strategy is most similar to yours. And I plan to read another Portugal book at some point. I may do that with a few places. I read a Herman Wouk book for the Bahamas which was wonderful -- but plan to find another at some point because the book was fabulous but I am uncertain how much Herman Wouk really understood the islands' culture.

Suggestion: book swap. I am doing it for the Retro Chapter Chicks. I have not participated yet, but think you sign up and another signee picks a book for you. (Sound familiar? 😲)
I think that is a great idea. I will send a notice to all members in the next few days and we can create boards for World Books that we want others to pick from.

Karol, I prefer to keep it as the last topic because I want people to know it is just a list and that suggestions go in the other folder. But I can share the link to one of the continents. Also, if you scroll to the bottom of all discussions and click on the More Discussions link it will take you to the second page and you will see them there.
