What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Hi! I am looking for a novel to get my friend for Christmas! She read this book a few years ago and has been in love with it but can't seem to remember the name!

In the novel, there is a girl that lives in the modern-day. She lives with her grandparents in a trailer close to the woods and she travelled through this veil in the middle of a meadow to go back in time to the 1940s. When there, she falls in love with a handsome soldier. I believe that she is able to travel back and forth, although I am not 100% sure about that fact.

I can provide more information about the ending, but I don't want to ruin the book for anyone else. I've tried looking for this book everywhere, so it would be amazing if you could help me out! Thank you!

I found out that they end up getting engaged in the book, but then the war starts!!

Update: The cover is of a girl in a 1940s light blue dress in a sort of meadow or forest! Her name might be Emma and his might be Travis! My friend read it when she was 14 so it was around early 2000s!

How old was the girl? Was she an adult, since she fell in love with a soldier?

Was this teen or adult fiction?

I believe she’s an teenager! She’s 17!

So I found out that by the end of the book, the veil closes completely and she is unable to get back!!

Please help! I’m still looking for the book!
