Anyway Syannis, despite being rather humble did go all out in his chambers. Unlike some how are quite modest Syannis had a lot of fun decorating and setting up his room and has picked the most fanciest and highest quality of stuff there is. His bed was always neatly made and everything was orderly and tied, always being up to date with the newest stuff. Now that the rebellion he's leading is in action papers and other random thing clutter his room. Letters and other bits of paper with ciphered codes cover everything. He had a desk that is the only semi clear space in his room. It's were he spends most of his nights sorting though things and writing more letters. because of this he is reluctant to let maids or anyone else into his room in case they see the messages and can decipher them. In other words his room is currently a mess. However underneath all the clutter the plush furniture and fancy stuff are still there from when he didn't have the pressure of rebellion leader.

The only out of place thing in Syannis room is the large wooden chest in the corner of his room. It is the only thing not covered in anything at all being fully free of paper and anything else. Not that anyone has tried to pick it up but it's quite light for a large box meaning ever since he has gotten it he hasn't really put much in it. However it had a key code lock on it meaning it holds some importance to Syannis. Thankfully, as far as he knows, Syannis is the only one who knows the pass word though he does have it written down somewhere if it could be found in the clutter of his room.
((Here we are. One semi conscious Syannis))Now Syannis was out of it for pretty much the whole discussion, the whole ride, the whole thing of actually getting him into the castle, all of it. He was completely unaware of anything going on around him physically. For all he knew they could have left him in the alley and let the dogs get him. He had no idea of what became of Bella. No idea that Jasmine and turned up. No idea about anything. However, despite Syannis being out of the real world, dreams still plagued him….
At first he just saw himself. Watched the blade come at him but having no ability to say anything. He watched himself die in the hands of his siblings. Kaito hugged him as if willing life into him while Jasmine stood off to the side shocked by the events. Wren was at the castle still scream and fighting the guards who refused to let her out to see him. Tears brimmed Saynnis’ eyes as he called to them, trying to sooth them shouting that it would be ok. But his words failed to reach them. He saw his mum sitting in her room playing with a photo of his younger self. He heard his father's triumphant laugh. Heard his voice saying it was just another problem solved. Then he saw all his loved ones standing in a line in front of his father a gleam in his eye. The blade in hand the evil smile. Syannis screamed pleaded for it to stop, pleaded for them to stop. He wanted to say it was ok, needed to say he loved them just one last time but as he reached out to them an invisible barrier stopped him. He cried and yelled watching them with horror as they stepped forward and….
The dream cut off his subconscious spearing him the pain for watching his father kill his family. But it wasn’t done with him just yet.
This time it wasn’t him. Instead in his place was his Kaito. Kaito with Jasmine, Wern and his mother behind him. Even the girl, the one who saved his life all those years back stood there. Face cold a grim her stance strong as if she was standing up for someone. Saynnis then saw the flash if the blade no long wielded by Bella but by the dark shadow. He shouted a warning to his brother but Kaito didn’t hear. The knife tore through his skin blood blossoming around on the fabric of his shirt. His brother staggered looking down with shock at the knife stick out from his chest. He pulled it out, the awful noise of metal sliding through flesh followed. Then his brother fell. Syannis tried to run to his brother side but once again was stopped. He could only watch as his brother bleed out. Could only watch as the rest of his family sub came to the same fate. The knife cut through their flesh tearing holes in this chests, staining them with blood. Syannis fought, trying in vain to get to them as the slowly bled out. As the shadows crawled over their bodies taking their life. Letting them die alone, unknown and unloved.
Syannis then saw himself sitting alone on his balcony. The moon cast a shone is silver rays at him but it did nothing to hide the broken look on his face. He looked over the field in front of him where the stones with his family's names on lay. Tears gleamed in his eyes as he looked down at the names. He twisted the silk cord around and around and around in his hand slowly tying it into a knot… And all Syannis could do it watch what his other self did. Watch the pain etched on his face. Watched the silk cord. Only watched with silent unforgiving tears…
*****
Syannis woke with a gasp. His eyes fluttered open the electric blue gaze taking in the surroundings. Silk bed sheets pressed into his bare back as he lay on top of the covers not underneath. Somehow Syannis had gotten into his room a trail being cleared between the mess of papers from the door to his bed. He had no memory of getting here being last he checked he was in an alleyway with Bella and Kaito and then… the image of the knife flash across his vision. Kaito! Syannis bolted upright a flare of pain splintered though his body. He gasped black spots danced across his eyes.
“Oh your highness!” Someone gasped and he felt a hand push him gently back down. “Don’t move. You should not be moving right now,” the voice, which Syannis recognized as one of the castle medics, said.
Syannis gratefully flopped back down on the silk covers of his bed his head throbbing along with his whole body. Following the main source of pain, Syannis looked down at his stomach surprised to see the fact that he was topless. However he was more shocked upon seeing a gaping wound in his stomach. Some of it had been stitched up but not yet enough so Syannis could still see open parts of the wound. Blood still trickled from the wound but it was much less then it must have been. That would explain why his head spun even at the slightest turn of his head. Taking a deep breath, Syannis opened his mouth in an attempt to see if his voice still worked.
“Wh.. what happened? Where i… i.. Is my brother?” He croaked the words feeling slurred and heavy on his tongue.
Another voice, a more male different one for the last replied.
“Don’t worry about it my prince, it all all right now.”
At this Syannis seethed. Despite the pain no one. No one denied him information on his siblings.
“It’s my damn right to know where my brother is!” He snapped his voice sounding far more weak then he intended.
He tried to sit up again only to be pushed back down slightly more forcefully. He gasped pain flaring though his abdomen.
“Please your highness you are in no state to move.” One voice addressed him the other muted to someone else.
“We might have to sedate him. It wouldn’t be my first choice but if he is going to be difficult than any possible side effects can't be worse than the damage he will do to himself.”
“We promise we will let in you brother soon you highness we just have to get this done.”
Yurina was by his bedside. "Look Syannis, the more you move, the more you're going to tear the wound. So, stop being an idiot and let us do our jobs. I even made you my best pain reliever." She pulled out a vial of gold, but clear liquid. "This is Heaven's vial, trust me when I say this made my trips a hell of alot easier, but only administer one drop every half-hour. Adding too much at once will create a burning sensation. You understand Doc?" she administered one drop into his wound. "It should take immediate affect in working to relive the pain." She took off the white apron the staff lent her, so she could tend to kaito. She sat in the chair by his bedside. She pressed her hand to his forehead. "Get him a damp cloth, he developing a fever."
Kaito looked at Yurina. "I'll be fine." He said. "Can I go see Syannis now? I can hear him, so he must be awake." Kaito said. It wasn't as if he's never had an injury before. The ones he had currently were very minor and didn't really matter, he's been through much worse. He could just walk it off, like he did most the time. Plus, it wasn't like he had a big gaping hole in his stomach like how Kaito last saw Syannis. The other Medics wouldn't let him near his brother before, telling him he needed to 'rest' also. Like hell he did! He wasn't seriously injured and he wanted to see how his brother was holding up. Being a prince, small injury like his were expected, so why make a big fuss about it?
((I know but it was the actual Medics. You know, the people who decided to spend their lives in that profession?))
"He's still pretty unstable as of now, let the medicine kick in and then maybe you can see him." She said sternly while wiping blood off of her arms and hands with a wet cloth.
"Fine....." Kaito complained. He stared at the ceiling, extremely bored. He wanted to walk around the castle, but he wanted to talk to his brother more, hence why he even bothered to stay or even come here. Otherwise, he'd already be in a library or in his secret chambers.
((KIll all the guards who refuse to let Wren see Syannis XD))
"Either way when the medics deem it alright for syannis to recieve visitors, I will let you know personally or send a servant to relay the message." She said calmly. "My companion is chasing down his assailant as we speak. If possible he'll bring the suspect in alive to undergo questioning."
((Kill anyone who refuses to let them see him XD You can bring Wren in now if you would like the more siblings the better. Family reunion time!!!))
((I might just have her come in at some point to see Syannis, once it's deemed alright, though they might not let her since she's so 'young'. Maybe after Kaito is allowed, I have an good dialogue idea for her.))
((Coolio! I look forwards to Rping with Wren she seems cool. Don't worry Syannis will though a fit if they don't let him see his siblings. If they refuse he will just walk to them himself XD))
(Also just to bring y'all up to speed. Syannis's prized knife was discovered to be a precious heirloom in Yurina's family. So more than likely she will want it back since it was stolen from her father's corpse.)
Jasmine walked up the stairs to Syannis’ chambers. She approached the doors, and saw her brother Kaito outside then. She approached and said “no visitors yet?” She had sadness in her eyes, and her face was streaked as if she had been crying. Her eyes were pink as well.
Yurina opened the door. Her, along with one of the medics stepped out. "You can go see him, but no hugging him since the stitches are still fresh and they'll tear easily if put under too much strain." She winked at Jasmine before reentering the room.
Kaito smiled and walked into the room. "Syannisssss? Are you alive? Or are you still half-dead?" Kaito called before entering the room.
Down the hall from the eldest prince's chamber there seemded to be quite a calamity involving the yongest royal. Wren had been shut out from entry of her brothers room almost immediately after they carried him in, she'd heard that something had happened to Syannis and nearly knocked over a gaurd or two just to get to him. Alas however the sight was deemed too gruesome for the young girl, but she was determined to see him. Struggling with one of the gaurds, a nice younger lad who often snuck her sweets from time to time, though he wouldn't ease her hold on the distressed princess. One of the madiens catching sight of this went rushing to sooth her, though it only really seemed to make things worse by getting Wren overworked too the point she began to have issues with getting breaths out between gasping sobs. For the most part not much was heard besides a anger filled and uncharacteristically childish, "Kaito gets to go and he's not much older! I should get to see him! I wanna see Syannis!" Coming from the normally mature and well mannered youngest it was almost heartbreaking to hear her having a right fit over it.It got to the point that they feared she might need a medic if Wren didn't get calmed down enough before she started to have a fit of coughing. More so fearing the wrath of a concerned Queen or worse, King they opted to allow her to go. Nearly as soon as the guards hold on Wren was released the girl ran towards her big brothers room, the amount of energy she used to get there took another toll on her breathing. Her feet only covered in thin, but sturdy soled shoes made for lounging made a loud, pitter patter with each step echoing down the hall. Though only a short distace by then her breathing sounded wet and heavy, the way it was when battling a nasty fit of coughs, though having been as worked up as she had quite normal. Letting out a sound of displeasure when yet stopped from entering the room Wren called out to her elder sister.
"Jas! I wanna see him, I've got to. It only fair! You and Kaito get to," the tone held a lot of emotions that a eleven year old shouldn't be feeling. Wren was still gripped by fear her voice in the end sounding quite small and her little fists battered the arm preventing her from reaching her family. Looking at the few medics outside and Jasmine who'd yet to enter the room with wet eyes a small whine escaping her, chest still heaving a bit from the struggling before.
Kaito heard his little sister's voice and sighed. He guessed he'd have the visit his brother with the whole crew, his questions could wait. He had been waiting a while to talk to his brother, only to walk right out the door again when he only managed to take 5 steps in! But what could he do? Wren was family, and far as he could tell, she was good family, unlike their father. "I'll be right back, Syannis." Kaito said and walked out. One of the guards stood by with orders to keep others out, just in case an assassin would try to walk in, which was highly unlikely. Kaito looked at the guard and smiled sweetly. "Excuse me sir, but I believe your dismissed? Your shift is over." Kaito told the guard kindly. "B-But Young Prince..." The guard began. "I said your dismissed." Kaito told the guard again, this time his voice a bit stern as he kept his smile plastered on his face. "Y-Yes, Y-Young Prince..." The guard stuttered, bowing to Kaito, then to Jasmine and Wren before leaving. Kaito sighed. He looked toward Wren and smiled again. "Syannis' wounds aren't as bad as earlier, in fact he's all stitched up now. As you said, it's only fair you get to see him to, being family and all." Kaito said. Earlier he would have just waited if a guard or anyone else told him he couldn't see his brother, however, right now, his little sister wanted to and that was reason enough for him. "Might want to hurry up. The poor fool has been wanting to see us for a while now, and I'm sure he'll be relieved to see his little sister." Kaito said, pointing toward the open room door. "Plus, from the looks of it, you might need a medic by your side anyways, and what better way then to be in a room surrounded by medics and three of your older siblings, right?"
(( I think you guys are doing quite well Rping without Syannis at this point. But Wren is actually adorable.))
Syannis wasn’t one to lash out at people. Or get mad very fast. He was generally able to keep a straight face able to contain his irritation but as Yurina quite contently insulted him along with forbidding him for seeing his siblings he felt his hold slip. “Thank you, but I can administer one drop every half and hour quite easily on my own,” Syannis said in a calmly, like the calm before a storm, while taking the vial from her. “After all I don’t plan to burn myself as well as am having a hard time trusting others with my life so I think I can deal with things myself,” he retorted pushing himself to sitting despite any warnings.
The plain flared up again but this time it wasn’t as bad as before. Whatever drug he had just given him work well.
“If this is so called amazing pain killer then I think you shouldn’t have given it to me, now let me see my siblings,” he demanded swiping away the hand that tried to push him down. He watched Yurina leave and heard Kaitos voice reply shortly after meaning his siblings was waiting outside. And screw them if they thought they could keep him from them.
“My prince…”
“If you want to keep me down I suggest you get someone of higher authority to make me do so,” Syannis replied raising an eyebrow with expectancy.
The medic open and closed his mouth trying to decide what to say in reply. Upon no reply he grinned.
“Didn’t think so now let me go…”
"Syannisssss? Are you alive? Or are you still half-dead?"
Syannis let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. His brother was ok, Bella hadn’t hurt his brother.
“Great question. Let me think about it and i’ll get back to you on it!” He called back jokingly finding himself leaning back into the soft silk of his bed. He positioned the pillows so he was sitting up but wasn’t putting much strain on his newly stitched wound. The comfort of knowing his brother was ok settling over him, stopping his desire to get up. He turned towards the medics who looked at him with annoyance laced with worry.
“You can leave now,” he said looking towards his brother who just trotted into the room.
“But your highness.”
“But what?”
“We stitched up your wound but are yet to bandage it. Without it bandaged you could easily tear it again.”
Syannis sighed running his tongue across his lips.
“Fine, do what you need but if I asked you to leave you leave.”
“Of course your highness don’t mind us.”
“Kinda hard not to when you poking my stomach.” he muttered turning toward his youngest brother flinching as the medics set to bandaging his wound wrapping thick strips of cloth around his abdomin. He lent his head back against the headrest closing his eyes but keeping his ears aware of Kaito.
Syannis was fully content on letting Kaito say the first thing. He had mentally prepared himself for the bombard of questions that he knew would come. He had told himself he would tell Kaito everything. But some things were best kept under lock and key. However Syannis was very quickly distracted as heard a familiar distressed voice from just outside his door. Syannis bolted upright upon hearing his youngest sister voice gasping as one of the medics hand forcefully bumped his wound. He only caught part of her conversion but knew exactly what was going on. They weren’t letting them in. They weren’t letting his siblings in. How dear they not let his family in, they had no right to stop them. He saw Kaito leave clearly getting the same idea of helping his sisters.
“Syannis...” One of the medics gasped.
“Get out now!” Syannis yelled turning deathly gaze towards them.
“I.. My prince.”
“OUT!” Syannis snapped. “And let my sisters in!” He growled watching the nervous medics scuttle out.
Once they were gone Syannis lent back with a shaky breath. One drop of the magic stuff was nowhere near enough. Thankfully Syannis wasn’t dumb enough to drop anymore on. Sweat glistened on his forehead as he fought against the pain on his abdomen and his leg. Dark circles formed his now dull blue eyes despite how much sleep he would have gotten. Though it wasn’t very peaceful sleep. He kept hearing his siblings screaming, kept seeing the silk cord in his own hand and the gleaming blade in his father hand. Syannis hated thinking about that, hating thinking that that dream could become reality. He needed to see all his siblings just to put that worry in him to rest. But he knew even if he wanted to walk he couldn’t so he couldn’t see how well his siblings were. Sitting up was painful enough walking would be impossible and he didn’t want to panic his family anymore then he already had. Blood had already bloomed around his newly bandaged wound thanks to all his moving and it likely wouldn’t get better if he kept at it. But… the dresstress in Wrens voice broken his heart. How she sounded scared and hurt made his blood run cold. If anyone hurt her then Syannis would kill them with his own hand. She was so young Syannis knew that. But she wasn’t as young as may might think. Syannis had made a point of getting to know all his siblings and he knew Wren wasn’t as weak as she seemed to be.
“Wren!” He called out battling to keep the pain from his voice. “Wren come here sweetie.”
He knew Kaito and Jasmine would be fight to get themselves to see him against all other staffs wishes but he felt it necessary to call out to them himself. To let them know he was at least awake.
Yurina stood in the doorway. "As far as things go, the person who saved your skin should have the right to stay." She said sternly. "Not to mention kaito dismissed your guards, so I'm definitely staying until my colleague returns with your assailant. That's the very least you can accommodate without hurting your pride further."
Kaito looked at Yurina. "She's right Syannis. Not that I completely trust her, but she seems more promising than that guard from before. And the shift change isn't until another 2 hours." Kaito said as he walked into the room. "Plus... I'm sure Jasmine would appreciate to have a 'friend' to talk to." Kaito hummed, glancing at Yurina then Jasmine before making his way to his brothers side. He looked at his brother. "I have some questions for you and 'Minami' to answer later, when she gets to the castle of course." Kaito hummed.
Jasmine beckoned for Wren to come to her, and looked up at Yurina. “Thank you for taking care of my brother. It’s a lot to ask from you in such a short time.” She leaned back against the wall, and her body slid down to the floor. Jasmine began to cry again, thinking about everything that had happened in just a day.
Yurina sat with Jasmine. She cradled her in her arms. "Please don't fret about it love. Besides, it pains me, your family, and the staff who adore you so to see you in tears. You have to remain strong, for Syannis's sake." She said this calmly. "I'm here for as long as I'm needed."
Katarina wrote: "((Ooh I’m so sad! Reading Syannis’ struggle from my POV is so heartbreaking))"((Oh i'm so sorry! Syannis just wants to be with his siblings. But i'll take that as a compliment <3))
Kaito glanced toward Yurina and Jasmine and nearly gagged. "Love is disgusting..." He mumbled to himself. He still didn't fully trust Yurina, something was.... different about her. Something he just couldn't put his finger on... Maybe she was a rebel? Well, if she was it didn't really matter to Kaito, as long as she didn't hurt any of his siblings. He had no problem with the rebels, in fact he couldn't blame them for not liking the king. Heck, Kaito didn't like the king for freak sake! But he did care about his siblings.
Once Kaito had seemingly come to her rescue Wren calmed down a bit as soon as the guard let her go she seemed a torn as to go to her sister or join Kaito in Syannis's room. Giving her a bit of a remorseful look as she clasped her sister's hand before turning to Kaito, "Thank you, I'm alright though really," Wren said letting go of her older sisters hand and brushing off a medic. When she looking into Syannis chamber her already fair skin seeming to pale more, her heart climbing into her throat while her stomach dropped. There was her eldest brother, one of the strongest figures in her life, his skin pale from the blood loss and exhaustion looking oh so tired despite trying to look otherwise. She wasn't aware of the sharp intake of breath that escaped her before Wren moved towards him with a softly exclaimed, "Oh Syannis..."Briefly, she wondered if this is how it felt when her siblings crowded around her bedside while Wren clung to life while battling whatever sickness plagued her. Her eyes were wet as she took in the sight, but yet she would not cower away for he perhaps just may need her as she had needed him many times before. Choosing to sit by her brothers' bedside holding out her hand for him to hold, not sure if it was to ground him or comfort herself really.
(I just hope to god the queen doesn't try to have Yurina arrested because her clothes are blotched with Syannis's blood. XD )

((damn, poor poor Nera. . . now would be a great time to bring Lotor into this! xD
either way, that filled me with so much emotion Jupiter I love it so much. . . and I want Lotor to act with all his heart that he cares for his son. Even if he sees him as a threat to the throne, he should care just a little bit I would hope. . .))

Syannis knew his anger was misplaced. But with everything going on around him, everything crumbling at his single touch he needed something to yell at. Something to take his bitter side out on that wasn’t his siblings. It so happened that Yurina was the only one available for that being no deathly consequence would come from it.“What if…” Syannis started his voice deathly cold. “If you want my assultaint so badly you go after her yourself. Or do you fear failure.” It wasn’t so much as a question as a prompt.
More of a few carefully chosen words to push down the exact right buttons.
However his irritation slowed as Kaitos surprisingly calm voice cut through the tension. Syannis pulled himself up into a better position, one that didn’t look like he was dying. His nose wrinkled up in almost a playful manner as Kaito said Yurina should stay because she was more promising then the last guard.
“Fine but If I need to talk to my family alone she leaves.” Syannis said knowing some matters of discussion would not be suited for Yurnias ears.
And by the look in Kaitos eyes he had many questions, all of which were left unspoken but not unseen. Syannis gave a nod of understanding as Kaito said he wanted to discuss some things with him and Yuki. After everything he had been through his youngest brother deserved to know. However fear settled over him as he heard that Yuki wasn’t back. Why had she not accompanied Kaito back, where was she? She wouldn’t have gone after Bella, would she? Would his father joined the dots. Surely not yet. He was a maniac and a king but he wasn’t that bright surely
“Yuki’s not…” Syannis stopped himself as he realised he used her real name.
Saynnis bit his lip knowing that slip up would come back and bite him.
“She’s not back? Is she ok?” he asked once again prioritizing others before him but he couldn’t stop his mind churning with ideas and possibilities of what could be happening to her.
However once again Syannis was very quickly distracted as his younger sisters heavy voice found him. His eyes flicked to where Jasmine sat leaning on the wall in a heap. His heart broken as he realized she was crying, crying because of him. What was even worse was the rebel assassin was the one comforting her, not him. It was his sister yet he wasn’t there to comfort her. He was the one making her sad yet was he completely unable to fix it. Syannis wanted to scream and cry himself at how unfair this was. At how terribly screwed up this whole situation was. In fact Syannis tried to stand. He ignored all the pain just wanting to reach his sister side. He just wanted to wrap his arms around her and tell her everything was ok. Tell her he was fine and everything would be fine. But his body refused to hold his weight. He managed to push himself up and swing himself to his legs dangled off the side of the bed but as soon as he tried putting weight on his leg the pain became to much. With a loud curse Syannis flopped back tears brimming in his eyes. Not because of the pain but more because of how pathetic he was. He couldn’t even ignore one bit of pain just to get to his sister side.
Syannis collapsed back on his bed after a painful shuffled back into a sitting position. His bandages were now drenched in sweat and blood thanks to his refusal to stay still. His brows were creased with pain and any signal movement spiked pain though his leg and abdomen. Tears glistened in his eyes but he refused to let them out. He had to hold it together for his siblings. Now wasn’t a time to let his pain show. She had just shuffled into a better position when he felt a little hand wrap around his. He glanced to his side seeing the watery eyes of his youngest sister staring up at him. He felt the dip in the bed as she sat next to him as she clutched his hand.
“Come here Wren,” he said gently pulling on her hand so she came to his side.
He wrapped his arms around her surprised at the weakness in his own arms. He pulled her to his chest placing a brotherly kiss to the top of her head.
“It’s ok sweetie.” He whispered rubbing a comforting hand up and down her back as he buried his face in her soft hair.
“Kaito, can you get jasmine for me please.” He whispered glancing up at his youngest brother unable to hide the pleading look in his eyes. He hated he couldn't get her himself but he needed this. Needed all his siblings. Just for a moment he wanted to be a family. A family where their father wasn’t a murderer. Where there was no rebellion and no one dying. Just a happy normal family. That’s all he wanted. Just for once, in their messed up life, he wanted things to be ok.
There were few places in the castle where the queen felt safe. It seemed like he had his eyes everywhere. Like every wall and every door was an accomplice to her imprisonment. Nera had gotten used to the feeling after more than twenty years of marriage, sadly, because she knew deep inside that it was true. The castle was Lotor's fortress, designed to intimidate outsiders and hide his secrets, which meant he had to know everything that happened inside and out. It wasn't mere paranoia. Nera was very well aware of the king's spies and guards with hidden agendas. She wished those would be directed toward outsider threats, but she knew Lotor kept her and her children as under watch as any other enemy. His own family.
She shivered. Sometimes she doubted she saw them as such. Sometimes it felt like they were all pawns in a game without rules. Just Lotor's will.
This was why she had to take care of them. Kaito, Jasmine, Wren, Syannis. Her children. The only light of her life. Her life had been destroyed by him, but she was damned if she was going to let him destroy theirs.
The garden was one of the few places she found peace. A ray of light, the green around her, this felt like home. Home. Something she couldn't find in the chambers and throne she shared with him. Nera paced around the garden, her dark blue dress becoming less impeccable with each step, and she turned toward the light. A strange, demented thought formed in her mind, and she started walking toward the edge of the forest, toward the light, toward freedom--
"Your majesty!" She heard a call behind her and halted. She could feel her heartbeat going a mile a minute, and she took a breath to calm down. It was good that the maid came in at that moment. She had no business having such ridiculous thoughts.
"Yes, Jemma?" She asked, turning toward the woman, who strangely was accompanied by a guard. They looked at each other worriedly before she turned to the queen.
"It's Syannis, ma'am."
-------
The Queen was running. She was running as un-royal and un-dignified as she had ever run in her years as a queen. Because this wasn't Avel and Atlas running after her in the wide country, or her husband leading her after their wedding. Nera wasn't a carefree child or a condemned adolescent. She was a terrified mother.
She arrived near Syannis' chambers and her face went white when she saw the crowd of guards and medics at the door.
"Her majesty, Queen Nera" Erec, the guard who escorted her, proclaimed loudly. Immediately dozens of faces turned to her and bowed. Nera threw her shoulders back and began to walk toward the door, quickly and decisively.
"Your majesty," One of the medics spoke, raising his head and bowing again in embarrassment "the crown prince has been stabbed."
He began to explain how they had cured him, how he ran them out of the room, how the rest of her children were there, but Nera could only hear one word.
Stabbed.
She raised her hand to stop the medic from talking and turned to him. The years of royal training kicked in.
"Thank you for your service medic," She began softly "please write a precis of his injuries and treatment for my review. I trust that all of you," She said turning to the rest of the medics "will be standing by in case my son's condition changes." She then turned to the rest of the guard. "Erec, Thomas, you two will stand guard here, the rest of you are dismissed and can return to your posts."
After a few bows from the guards and the medics the door was cleared. She took a deep, jagged breath and nodded for Erec to open the door for her. She was barely standing straight.
Nera's eyes immediately began to wet when she saw the scene before her. Her son, her eldest son, pale and almost lifeless, laying on his bed with a bloody red bandage. Her two daughters beside him, both with the same fear in their eyes, fear for the life of their brother. Her youngest son, who, Nera was alarmed to note, was also hurt and had also been bandaged. And finally, another woman she didn't recognize. Not from the castle servants or otherwise.
She darted toward the bed while she spoke to the unknown woman. "I don't know who you are nor why you are here. Frankly, it's not my primary concern at this moment. Seeing as you are alive next to my children I am led to believe you have their trust." She arrived next to her son and offered a melancholic smile. With a slight tremble she kneeled next to his bed, softly caressing Wren's head, who was already by his side. She then turned to the strange woman again. "You don't have mine." She spoke, swallowing her tears. "Please retire from my son's chambers," She turned to each one of her children. Jasmine, Wren, Kaito, and finally Syannis. "I want to be with my children."
