This is where you can post about OCD. Remember if you post upseting content mark it with '!!!'

Glen (gbraden712) I have a bit of OCD, which I am able to control the impulses. Over my desk I have a sign (!!!) "I have OCD and ADD, everything has to be perfect, but only for a short while".

I do that sometimes. 😂

Mystic Orange (Rumell) (rkrespectedmember) I have OCPD and not OCD. People confuse OCPD with OCD and they aren't the same thing.

(!!!) I have got triggered when I was at a till of a supermarket. I was fidgeting with wrapping roles in the end. I was annoyed how disorganised it was.

(!!!) Please, can you rename the topic OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) to OCD/OCPD? Thank you.

Glen (gbraden712) I clip cartoons to go on the wall by my desk. On occasion, the edges may be ragged, but I force myself NOT to reclip the edge and leave it as it is.

I do this too. Or if something isn’t straight (like the box of tissues or pile of papers at my doctors) I HAVE a to fix them. I also cringe taking things from the front at a store. I always take from the back lol

CloudOfThoughts_Books Keirstin (cloudofthoughtsxo) | 3 comments My doctors tell me often that my need for control or order stems from this! Somedays it drives me nuts, others it’s my normal.

Out of curiosity, does anyone here have severe OCD? I do. It puts weird thoughts in my head. For example, I constantly have the urge to eat paint or detergent.

I am OCD but not OCPD. Like Rumell I go crazy when tills/cash registers are not organized. I have been a retail manager in the past and I would hate when cashiers did not Bank face bills....especially after training. What is worse...I go to the bank ATM and the money doesn’t come out bank face... 🤯

Tucker please don’t eat paint or detergent! Both can make you ill. Detergent will make you sick quickly...like rush to ER save your life quickly.

Paint made before 1982 had lead in it and can build up in your blood stream. Newer paint does not have it but if you live in place built before 1982 the lead can still leech thru the newer paint layers.

As for paint in general I would have to look it up side affects.

How do you control your urges?

I have never eaten paint, fortunately. As far as control, I just avoid paint or detergent.

Sugar Magnolia | 3 comments Hi Tucker. I also have severe OCD. I get really annoyed when people say they have OCD because they like things to be neat and organized. As if OCD was just a cute quirk rather than a debilitating illness.

Have you had treatment? I had gotten to the point where I was living in such a state of constant terror that I was preparing to end it all. I didn't know I had OCD because I didn't even know what OCD was. I just thought the world changed and no one knew it but me. Finally my family figured out something was mentally wrong and took me to a psychiatrist. My treatment helped a lot and eventually I was functioning well enough to live a semi-normal life. Then later on I relapsed and now I am back in treatment.

I hope you get treatment that works for you.

Pavel Stanishev | 2 comments Hey Group :)

I had orthorexia just a few years ago. I tried to eat as healthier as possible all the time. Luckily, I turned to evidence-based literature and slowly I seemed to get rid of it.

And this, in fact, inspired me to write my first book :) - it is just about mental and social health and how eating 'healthily' all the time is ... not a good idea for most of us.

It's reviewing some of the most popular myths that we still believe and that prevent us from enjoying food & life.

If there are any like past-me, you can get it, read it and share with me what did you like/dislike about it :)

Wishing all of you good luck with your OCDs - I am sure you'll get fine over time.

Sugar Magnolia | 3 comments Hi Pavel. I had to look up orthorexia because I never heard of it. It's someone who eats a healthy diet. How is eating a healthy diet a mental illness?

In my opinion, eating healthy food is smart. I don't think there's any "evidence" that it's better for people to eat unhealthy food. On the contrary, unhealthy diets contribute to many health problems.

Charlie_Hammark | -1 comments I am pretty sure I have a mild case of OCD because I need exactness and symmetry lining up (ie having all the pens in my pencil pouch the same brand). I am always seeking reassurance that I am doing the right thing, especially at school. I say sorry a lot also. There are more compulsions too.
