Charity Bradford (charitybradford) | 6 comments I'm in need of a couple beta readers for a new YA/YA age science fiction space opera. It's been through many revisions and two rounds of other beta readers, so hopefully isn't too rough. I made a lot of changes in the last round of revisions and would like fresh eyes to check for story flow and plot holes before I consider hiring an editor.

Since half the book is from a male POV, I'm in particular need of men readers. Most of my previous betas have been female. While wonderful, they can't help me fix how my male character thinks, talks, acts. :)

Here's the blurb:
The Hatana is expanding his empire. After he conquers Attalea and Cassia, Amiran, his son and heir, speaks out against his methods. Determined to teach his son a lesson, the Hatana sends the fleet to destroy the planet where Amiran has been hiding.

With little time to prepare, Amiran and his best friend Evander help evacuation efforts before fleeing themselves. While Evander escapes with a ship full of refugees, Amiran is captured and condemned to work in the mines for a year. Beaten regularly, all he has to hold onto is the memory of one girl's tear-streaked face and heartfelt plea for the god Atua to watch over him. It compels him to listen to the voice that speaks in the darkness.

The Hatana thinks he's the supreme force in the galaxy, but Atua has chosen Amiran to put an end to his tyranny. From the mines to years of servitude in the fleet, Amiran bides his time learning the weaknesses of the empire and waiting for Atua's direction.

Through it all, his only connection to Evander and the woman he's fallen for is the visions Atua sends. Time after time, Amiran is told, they are in my hands. Will he find Atua's hands strong enough to protect the people he loves most, or will he give in to the call of war like his father?
