Three years ago, Alison disappeared after a slumber party, not to be seen since. Her friends at the elite Pennsylvania school mourned her, but they also breathed secret sighs of relief. Each of them guarded a secret that only Alison had known. Now they have other dirty little secrets, secrets that could sink them in their gossip-hungry world. When each of them begins receiving anonymous emails and text messages, panic sets in. Are they being betrayed by some one in their circle? Worse yet: Is Alison back? A strong launch for a suspenseful series.

Hanna is a mess - with her eating disorder and shoplifting. Emily seems a little stuck up. Spencer craves attention from her family but falls in comparison to her sister. Her mom just buys her whatever she wants (like the Tiffany necklace and earrings she once stole!) and then doesn't care when Hanna is in trouble with the law. This should end good. (hide spoiler)]
100%: (view spoiler)[Well, they all came together at Alison's funeral and were all contacted at A the same way. It will be interesting to see how they can rekindle their friendship while trying to solve the A mystery. I've heard the books are different from the show in that perspective so I'm intrigued to find out more! (hide spoiler)]

Spencer is also a favorite of mine - I feel bad for her, her family is pretty horrible in their own way. Emily is probably my least favorite....... (hide spoiler)]

Maybe it's just me but they talk about Ali like she is some goddess and so attractive - the show did not play her out like that. To me in the show she was not attractive. Every one of the other girls was way more attractive than Ali's character, imo. (hide spoiler)]

I believe in you! Haha - Also, yeah, everything about Ali was not attractive. But I find it funny how different the girls are described looks wise in the books from the show. I keep picturing the actors while reading haha

Me too! I mean I love Aria - she is by far my favorite out of all of them. Notice how their physical features they describe different but their personality is the same. Aria they describe as "artsy" and "different" and she was that way in the show. Hanna into fashion and such- same in the show. Spencer - smarty same in the show. Emily - swimmer same in the show. I think the show picked good characters for the girls. I couldn't picture Lucy Hale as like Spencer...it wouldn't work lol
