After receiving your book or books after landing on an open property, use this thread to post your intention to purchase said property. Please note your book must have 280-420 pages to qualify for purchasing.

You will have 7 days after your declaration of intent to finish your book and post a short review.

Purchasing is on a first come, first served basis, therefore properties will not be available (frozen) during the time the intended purchaser is reading their book.

After you have completed the book and are confirmed as the property owner, please set up your own request thread for that property so that others may make their requests to you directly.

Review: I love Ishiguro. He's so good at portraying the inner workings of the human mind, the evolution and delusions of the self. I like how he plays with memory and perception, and how his characters turn things over and over in their minds—some teasing out wisdom and insight, some digging themselves deeper and deeper into the lies they've told themselves (or been told), the way we often start with our beliefs and then reshape our memories to suit them. This book does a lot of that, with the balance tipping toward wisdom. I would have liked more examination of how people remain ignorant, and how they choose complacency when they can no longer claim ignorance—which clearly most of us do—but I found this book satisfying nonetheless.

Oh, darn. I thought I would be the first to complete, but you beat me, CluckingBell ;)

This was Elizabeth Strout's first novel, and all of her skills and trademarks are already evident. It's the story of teenaged Amy, who is falling in love with a teacher, and her mother Isabelle, who has an unrequited love for her boss. But at the same time, we see into the heads of a lot of other people in the small town where the mother and daughter live, while more and more fractures appear in their relationship.

I listened to the audio version and didn't find it as captivating as Ready Player One which had a similar gamer theme. I saw the romance between Emi and the game creator coming a mile away, but not the plot twist at the end. Probably didn't get into this one because I'm not a huge YA fantasy fan. That being said, I will likely read the next book in the series to see where Marie Lu goes with this story (hate leaving things unfinished other than house cleaning).

Most of the recent YA book to movie adaptations have not been able to stand up to their book counterparts. Typically, I read the book first and then watch the movie and complain about everything they changed. Ready Player One is different because first, I watched the movie before reading the book, and second, I think I actually liked the movie better. In the book, most of the tasks Wade faces alone. They are not quite as exciting as those in the movie, which takes a more action-packed approach. The movie was able to both engage the audience with slightly less obscure cultural references while still staying true to the nature of the book. I definitely liked the ending in the movie better because after watching the movie, the book seemed a little anticlimactic. It was still a good book, though, and was only the second time I preferred the movie over the book (the first being Mockingjay Part 1 because the first half of the book was kind of boring).

Review:
This is #7 in the series and we've moved beyond the mini-arc of the last few books into a new story line. I enjoyed this book a lot but one thing I missed was a deeper dive into Dan. He has been around since the beginning but in the last couple of books, sort of pouty (in my interpretation) and belligerent. I wanted to get a better feel for how he was feeling or coming to accept the changes in Lucy (his 'best friend' boss) and the agency. I just felt like the tensions there didn't get resolved. And maybe that is on purpose. Otherwise, I liked how he dealt with learning he has a teenage son and seeing he woman he gave up. I was surprised at how easily Maggie forgave him. Not that I wanted it to be long and drawn out, but once she was over the initial shock she was surprisingly easy going about it. All in all, a good next in the series book.

Review:
This book was perfect because it was a very good at what it is supposed to be which is a 'millionaire playboy turned good guy' trope. The story was a slightly more in depth that your normal NA millionaire playboy trope and I really enjoyed the by-play between the MCs and the hero's group of friends. We have lots of set up for the remainder of the series which instead of being annoying (to me at least) made me anticipate the coming books. Mostly I think I enjoyed this book because it came right after a heavy-lifting thriller that was too slow moving to really be a thriller so this was the perfect antidote to cleanse that from my head ;-)

This book includes 3 short YA romantic stories written by different authors.

The first one annoyed me pretty soon. Jubilee just kept going on about her name...sigh. I just didn't like the MC. It was cute when she met a guy, but I still didn't like the story.
To me the second story was the best. I like it. It was a nice story with likable characters.
I hated the third one. I didn't like the writing or the characters.
Maybe I was just not in the mood for a YA book....

So this was not a good read for me, but luckily it was short.

I loved this book. Nora Roberts is good at writing romances. This one is number 3 in a series and is a nice conclusion to the triology. Though I wish it was a few chapters longer. The ending came a but sudden.
