Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 4851 comments CLEAR YOUR BOOKSHELVES CHALLENGE Duration: January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019

This challenge is a way to clean out all of your bookshelves: your physical, your electric, and your audible ones! The books you read for this challenge are books that are already in your possession. Whatever you do for this challenge, you are not allowed to read a book obtained after December 31, 2018 unless you have read at least 5 books you already own.
Here are some ideas on how to choose your books:
1. Read a book that you borrowed from a friend and want to return when finished.
2. Read a book that you have had for two+ years and haven't started.
3. Read a book you have started, set aside for awhile, and now want to finish.
4. Read a book that you own that will help towards a yearly challenge.
5. Read a book from your shelf then donate it to your local Little Free Library, church, shelters, Goodwill, etc.

List the number of
Physical Books:
Ebooks:
Audible Books:
you want to read (listen to).

Happy Reading!

Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 4851 comments How to Participate

1. Post here telling the Challenge Leader that you'd like to join the challenge. You can choose your books for the challenge at the beginning, or add them as you go. You can join a challenge at any time, as long as the challenge is still active. You must choose a goal for the challenge.

2. Whenever you finish a book for the challenge, post here and let the challenge leader know so they can update your progress.
---Please be sure to post the number of books you have completed every time you post an update. The Challenge Leader is not able to keep track for you because of the number of participants in the challenge.

3. Some members choose to update their original post with their progress to keep track of their challenge more easily, but make sure to also post a new message so the Challenge Leader knows to go look at your original post. You can look at how other members report their progress to find a strategy that works well for you.

Example:
message 32 updated! 2/25 books read!

For more information about how challenges work, check out this thread or ask your challenge leader.

PS. Please do not delete posts! It makes updating very confusing for the Moderators! If you decide to leave the challenge, please just let us know. You can edit your original post to say {redacted}. Thank you!

Caro (karopi) | 995 comments I will like to participate. I want to get read of several Hardcovers that I have. I am a paperback girl. I do not usually buy hardcovers and have a few of them around my bookshelves. I will put later on here the list that I have (20) but from all of them I am planning to read 5 and I also have many books around my room so I will try to really clean my physical shelves also some paperbacks so let's say 15.

That means that for this challenge I will read 20 books.

Tara (ptaradactyl816) | 271 comments Ok, I am still trying to finish up my clear the shelves challenge for 2018 but I am in again for 2019!
My Mom passed away last Christmas and over the last year my sister and I have been going through her things. She had SOOOOOOO many books and we "rehomed" a great deal of them but there were some that I want to read before moving them along. So I am going to commit to reading a dozen of her books in 2019.

12 physical books

We advise that you don't double dip within challenges (ie you can't use the same book twice in one challenge) but feel free to use for example a red book that was randomly picked to clear your shelf and count it in each challenge. Personally, I like to see how many different challenges I can fit one book into.
Hope this helps
