Hi! We are a new, small group who want to read literature from around the world.

Each month we will Nominate books for the following months BOTM. Nominations will take place from the 1st to the 7th. I will then post a Poll and voting will take place from the 8th to the 15th. The top two vote getters will be BOTM for the following month. This gives everyone two weeks to locate copies.

We also have a challenge that we call World TBR Book Swap. It is a great way to get world books off your TBR piles. The rules for that are found here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Finally, we have a folder for Buddy Read Requests. Feel free to post requests there.

If you know of books that fit a specific country, there is a folder that holds threads for each continent. Tell me the name of the book and author and I will add it to the list. Please be sure that it is available in English and can be found for a reasonable price. There is also a folder of threads for each continent where you can share reviews and thoughts on books you have read.

Hi Janet! I think we used to share a group. Glad you joined this one. If I remember correctly you had parents who were ill. I hope they are doing better.

Rosemarie | 299 comments Hi, Janet. Welcome to the group. I grew up in a small town not too far from London many years ago.

Kelly_Hunsaker_reads ... | 867 comments Mod
Is London near Detroit? It seems familiar to me. My husband's family is from Windsor.

message 9: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 299 comments London is about a two or two and a half hour drive from Windsor, using the 401 highway. My aunt used to live in Windsor until about 15 years ago.

What small town??

message 11: by F (new)

F | 30 comments Hi, i would like to start participating, what is this group about? Is it like novels set in a certain location? or books written/ originated from a certian location? Or books from authors that are of different nationalities? If its the last Q, does it count even if they haven't lived in their mother country in years?
What kind of books do we recommend for BOTM? and what kind of books are we supposed to track on our list?

Hi F and welcome. I have written a fairly detailed letter answering your questions and will private message it. I tried posting it here and got an error message. Perhaps it was too long.

I do recommend that you peruse the tracking threads of the people who are tracking. You can learn a lot from them.

Welcome, Mike!
We have open nominations each month (currently for October) that are then voted on. The highest 2 vote getters are selected and it is your option to read either one, both, or none! Love getting comments on these and any other recommendations.

If you have any questions, just post it. Any one of us will get back to you.

message 25: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 1 comments hello, I am also new. where do I find the books to be read?

message 26: by GailW (new)

GailW (abbygg) | 211 comments Mod
Hi and welcome, Sophie!

September books currently being read by the group are listed on the home page under the "currently read" section.

October books to be read are being voted on here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

For your own personal reading by country there are a number of different resources of which the two easiest might be
(1) using google,
(2) look at other members tracking folders: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group....

Another option - I am on another non-goodreads site called Read Around the World Challenge that can be accessed even if you are not a member: https://readaroundtheworldchallenge.com/
