How about something funny and different? Imagine Orson Welles' War Of The Worlds happening on present day Cape Cod. (and then toss in a little Close Encounters Of The Third Kind)

The third protagonist is a Golden Retriever. Chapter 10 starts with him being abducted by alien canines.

I'm doing the Andy Weir thing and making free (for now).
