David wrote: "I'll nominate Diaspora by Greg Egan."I second this, although i have just read it. This is hard hard sci-fi and sometimes can be rough. Having said that, I haven't seen a sci-fi book as ambitious as this one, ever.
I also nominate Permutation City, also by Greg Egan. I have heard, in this one Egan is more restrained compared to Diaspora.
Since I was given two sci-fi books for Christmas, I'm going to nominate them both: Artemis, which won the Goodreads Choice Award for Science Fiction for 2017, and Alien: The Cold Forge.
Since I’m a new and struggling Sci-Fi author, desperate in need for reviews, I’d humbly nominate my own two books, Tabula Rasa and Genesis. Thanks.

It's not a book I asked for so it was an unexpected gift for me! I've viewed the maps inside and was intrigued about the Apollo XI visitor centre at Tranquillity Base. I don't know how important this is to the story but I'm interested in how this example of space heritage tourism is handled in the book, having advocated the site's conservation in advance of any industrial development on the Moon. If the story is snoozeworthy then at least it's short!

I won't! :P It may be the case that I'll agree with you once I've read it. We have agreed on our assessment of other books before.

Yes, they are standalone books but they should be read after each other. Thanks

As per usual, all suggestions made in this topic will be listed in a poll in a few days so that we can vote on the two books for the monthly group read.
If a book has featured in a previous group read in the last 12 months, please do not suggest it for this next group read. You may, however, feel free to repeat any earlier unsuccessful suggestions you (or anybody else) made in previous nomination topics.
