Kristelh: Hello! I am from Minnesota which is in the north central part of the United States. We get four seasons here. I live in a rural area west of Minneapolis. I started with 1001 list over on the old Shelfari platform if anyone remembers Shelfari. The administrator had lost interest and she willingly turned it over to me. I think that was in 2008. I will soon be cutting back on hours, planning to retire (working less than 20 hours a week) in September of 2019. I am a nurse and I work as an advance practice nurse in psychiatry. I have two adult children and two grandchildren. I enjoy reading, lists, and doodling. I also like being active and go to the gym for various classes and walk everyday (except when covid orders close gyms).
2020 has impacted all our lives. I hate it, I hate how it is affecting so many aspects of our life and our culture. I am one of those who do not agree with endeavors that seems so harsh to life, culture, family and human connections. Oh well, it is what it is. I do not think this is going away. Also 2020 came with a diagnosis for my husband of glioblastoma. This is a hard diagnosis and while I am home more, thankfully, I need distractions and work helps me deal with stress. So being here is one of my coping measures.
My main role has been to set up voting for the monthly books, setting up the information on the site for the various ways to earn participation points and keeping the standings and links. I keep things organized, I clean up the site. If you don't want to lose something, you might want to make copies, just in case.
In regards to social media. I am on Facebook, Litsy, LibraryThing. I generally am known as Kristel or Kristelh. I forgot to mention that I have dog named Lucy. (I was reading Villette when I got her).

Book Wormy: Hi all depending which bookish social media you find me on I will be known as Book Wormy or BookWormM. I live in the UK with my hubbie and 2 guinea pigs. Like Kristel I started reading the 1001 list over on Shelfari and while I am now adjusting to the GR format I have to say I still miss the Shelfari days.
In terms of the group here I am the Randomiser Queen if you ask for a randomised reading list it will be me generating it and likewise the randomly selected BOTM and each months TBR number so you will either love me or hate me LOL.
I am also responsible for keeping the Participation Points spreadsheet up to date. In the real world I am a Data Analyst so I am a bit of a geek when it comes to spreadsheets.
Last year I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis this has affected my reading and participation in the group as the condition and the treatment both cause chronic fatigue this means that I only really tend to catch up here on a Friday evening or over the weekend. So if you are wondering why you don't have a new book or your points haven't been updated have no fear it will be on my Friday list to update
I look forward to discussing the books on the list with you all.

Hi, I am the Bookshelf personality. I will be doing more and more of the work around here so that any admin can access folders and make changes. I am basically an AI being manipulated by people like Book and Kristel. You may want to friend me as I will be probably collecting your votes for books, etc. It also means if I am not checking in something could get overlooked so feel free to PM one of the admins and tell them that Bookshelf personality needs to wake up.
Hi I am Diane aka Cafe Mom. I hail from Los Angeles. I am married with one teenage son. Like my other two administrators I came from Shelfari. I have been reading from the list since 2013. By day I am a Registered Dietitian. My career has been Medical Nutrition Therapy as I work acute (hospital) and post acute care (skilled nursing). By night I am an avid baker and cook, can't keep me out of the kitchen. And of course I love to read but slow, I think I hit 50 books in a year once. Look forward to discovering new books with you all. In regards to social media, I am also on Litsy.
Reading 1001 is looking for a new facilitator to replace Book who has needed to take a break. She will be greatly missed. Since we are an international group we are looking for an administrator who is not living in North America. Please private message me with your interest if you would like to be considered.
G'day! I've been living in Australia for the last 25 years, dwelling in the northwestern suburbs of Sydney, but I am originally a Québécois from Quebec City. Being French/English bilingual, I have been reading from the List in both languages since 2012 when I joined this group in its previous Shelfari incarnation. I'm just about to reach the halfway point of the combined Lists (659), so I should be around for a while more!
I will be taking over Book Wormy's responsibilities with respect to the Randomiser Lists and the Participation points. From time to time, I might chip in for hosting some reads or organising special events, just like the (in)famous Labours of Hercules I did some time ago.
I am a quant/data scientist by trade; I used to design statistical predictive models for the online sports betting industry, but I am now focusing on developing machine learning/AI skills with the aim in the future of working and developing solutions for the medical and health industry (hopefully).
Outside work and reading the List (and reading work-related/AI stuff), I manage a French speaking social group in western Sydney, enjoy bush walking, movies, trivia and travel. And I also have a black-and-white cat named Murakami (no need to explain how he got his name!).
I'll probably be active more on the weekends and in the evening on weekdays, which for most of you is the morning (that's usually a win-win situation).
