So often on First Edition, people are talking about novels, and less often non-fiction. Anyone read poetry? What's your favourite for 2018? Mine is Padraig O'Tuama's Sorry for Your Troubles. It's not just for fans of Northern Ireland, but that doesn't hurt.

Diana | 8 comments I don't have any favourites but want to read Emily Dickinson and Yeats in 2019.

John Newton | 9 comments One of America's most popular poets, and one of my favorites, Mary Oliver died just a few days ago. She's often described as accessible, which sadly I think is used to diminish her by some snobs. Most of her work focuses on nature and animals, and the writers that she held in the highest esteem tended to be old-school ones who also turned to nature for inspiration, like Emerson and Wordsworth. Here's a clip of her reading one of her most popular poems, "Wild Geese."

I was introduced to Mary Oliver by a friend a few years ago. I have really enjoyed her poetry. I didn't know she was considered "accessible".
