Hi Bill,Ouch !! That some new year beginning ...
Why should this group be running ? Bcos we get serious suggestions for reading good non-fiction and even though it is a small group it is meaningful ?
I recently joined looking for a small but active science group. Always looking for new good recommendations on books.
I agree with everyone above- this group is how I find recommendations for well written science books.
I think you should keep it going because it offers your past best book choices to someone that wouldn’t normally be able to find books like that. I wouldn’t have looked for a book on Godel Escher and Bach, but there it was, and it was brilliant.
The above answers seem to deal with one aspect of this group. Suggesting good science books. Correct me if I'm wrong but, I think Bill might be referring to the other aspect of this group. Actually discussing the books. I admit, I haven't been very active on this group since joining a few months ago but, when I do check in, there doesn't seem to be a lot of discussion.
There are 3 main ways to show your interest. Book suggestions, voting, and discussion. The voting has increased a bit recently. We now get around 11 votes compared to 3 votes a few months ago.
There is now 225 members. There was about 50 members when I took over the group.
Unfortunately I haven't been very good at getting the books read and adding to the discussion.
Sometimes I go to the group bookshelf and click on view activity for the book to see if anyone says they are reading it.
I'm planning to start this month's book soon (Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman). I just have to finish my current book first. I'll post my thoughts to the discussion. It is supposed to be a good book.
Hi. Are we voting for February's book? I'm trying to be more active on this group. Maybe posting discussion questions would prompt more responses?
I am hoping that someone will take over doing the monthly updates.Hayley, are you interested in taking over?
I have never been an administrator on Goodreads. I am willing to do monthly updates with a bit of help.
Hayley, I have added you as a moderator.I did the updates for this month, so start poking around to see what you want to do in the future. Ask questions here or in private messages. I am on goodreads every day, so I should be able to respond to your questions in a timely manner.
I just got lazy about updating this group, since I seldom get around to reading the monthly selections, and there is not much feedback to tell me that anyone else is reading them.
I do read the monthly selections. Just that I don't know what to add to the discussions most of the time. I have missed couple of months though.
This group looks like it was interesting. I hope it comes back. I'm going to read the last book anyway and maybe some of the past books.

Nobody reads anything, and if he reads, he understands nothing, and even if he understands, he doesn't remember anything.
And I will add:
And if he doesn't remember, there is nothing to talk about.
It is a pity that this forum is dead.

Apologies for the topic title. Its just my twisted sense of humor, and I have been listening to too much Pink Floyd.
