Lord Marshmoreton is a widower of some forty-eight years. He has two children.
Percy Wilbraham Marsh, Lord Belpher, who is Lord Marshmoreton’s son and on the brink of his twenty-first birthday.
Lady Patricia Maud Marsh, who is Lord Marshmoreton’s daughter and just twenty years old.
Lady Caroline Byng, Lord Marshmoreton's sister, who married the very wealthy colliery owner, Clifford Byng.
Reginald Byng, Lady Caroline’s stepson. And he is in love with Alice Faraday.
Alice Faraday, Lord Marshmoreton’s secretary.
Geoffrey Raymond is the man that Patricia is in love with and met in Wales.
George Bevan is a young man of about twenty-seven, tall and well-knit, with an agreeable, clean-cut face, of which a pair of good and honest eyes were the most noticeable feature. He is in love with Patricia.
Billie Dore, who was one of the choruses of George Bevan's musical comedy, had an attractive face, a mouth that laughed readily, rather bright golden hair (which, she was fond of insisting with perfect truth, was genuine though appearances were against it), and steady blue eyes.

Lady Caroline wants Reginald to marry Patricia. But Reginald is in love with Alice. And Patricia is infatuated with Geoffrey whom she met in Wales. Patricia had a chance to meet Geoffrey while her aunt is way, her father is busy with his garden, and before her brother’s return. She has asked Reginald’s help. But for some reason, her brother saw her and started chasing her in Piccadilly. That’s when she entered George Bevan’s cab and asked him to help her. George who noticed her walking in Piccadilly and wanted a chance to talk to her. He grabbed the chance and was willing to help her, feeling like a knight in the middle ages. After a while, they parted ways without knowing her name or where she lives. Because of the incident between George and Percy which ended by Percy getting caught by the policeman. George found out her name and where she lives. And he decided to go on an adventure to meet her.

The book is light and funny. I liked the author’s writing style. And I can’t wait to read the rest of the story. There will be lots of misunderstanding. As Patricia’s family will think George as Geoffrey. (hide spoiler)]
